Welcome back to ACE Spotlight, our weekly journey around the world to meet the people behind the expertise of the Oracle ACE community.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored different countries, technologies, career paths, and personal stories. And with every new Spotlight, we’re reminded that what makes this community special isn’t just technical expertise, but the people who are willing to share it.
This week, we’re heading to Mexico City, Mexico, where we meet
Oracle ACE Director Rolando Carrasco
Rolando’s Oracle journey began more than two decades ago, taking him from Oracle Database and Application Server to BPEL, Product Management, and today’s exciting world of agentic AI.
An Oracle ACE since 2011, he’s witnessed many changes in the technology landscape. But his curiosity extends far beyond technology — from running and writing short stories to learning Japanese.
Let’s meet Rolando!
🌍 Where in the World Are You?
I live in Mexico City, Mexico.
A fun fact is that Mexico City was built on top of a lake. Our ancestors built Tenochtitlán, which was surrounded by water.

- My hobby is studying Japanese.
☕ My Perfect Weekend

🚀 My Oracle Journey
Back in 2001, while working for Hewlett-Packard, I started working with Oracle Database.
Then, in 2002, I joined Oracle in a presales role, working with Oracle Application Server.
The event that changed my life was the introduction of BPEL PM to the Oracle technology stack in 2003.
I had the opportunity to join the Product Management team, and my personal and professional life changed in a way that I still find hard to believe.
It was the right decision at the right moment.
💡 One Oracle Feature More People Should Know About
Oracle Database has supported embedded Java for a long time.
Did you know that?
🛠️ A Project I’m Proud Of
Currently, I’m building an agentic-based SOC platform.
I’m very busy with that and very excited at the same time.
📚 What I’m Learning Right Now
Agentic architectures and Japanese.
💬 Ask Me About…
Private Agent Factory.
I can also recommend several books:
- Build a Multi-Agent System
- How to Solve It

Destination: In Mexico, come and visit Coyoacán.
Hobby: I study Japanese.
🌟 Advice for Aspiring Oracle ACEs
Always try to build and create community.
🤝 Let’s Connect!
You can connect with me through the Oracle ACE community and professional networks.
This week, ACE Spotlight took us to Mexico City, Mexico, where we met an Oracle ACE whose journey has taken him from Oracle Database and BPEL to agentic AI architectures.
Rolando’s story is a reminder of how much technology can change over two decades — and how important it is to remain curious and open to new opportunities.
From joining Oracle’s Product Management team at a pivotal moment in his career to exploring intelligent agent architectures today, his journey demonstrates the value of continuing to learn, adapting, and embracing new challenges.
But perhaps the most meaningful part of his story is his advice for aspiring Oracle ACEs:
Always try to build and create community.
Because that’s what the Oracle ACE Program is ultimately about: bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and creating connections that extend beyond individual technologies, organizations, and borders.
