Winter Open House ReCap
You Mingled, Donated, and Won
Thanks to Everyone who participated in Sun's 2006 Winter Open House and CANstruction Contest in Broomfield, Colorado. You mingled, you donated, and some of you won prizes.
It was a chance to take a break and
catch up with friends and colleagues, meet new people, and enjoy some
desserts. Many cans of food were donated to build the structures for
the CANstruction contest, which benefited the food bank. It was a
creative and fun way to help fight hunger in the local community.
Don Grantham, EVP Global Sales and
Services, and Bill MacGowan, EVP People and Places, were on hand to
judge the CANstruction contest, which was indeed a difficult job given
the fabulous displays built by each team. The top four teams received
prizes totaling up to $1,000. One team continued with their giving
spirit by donating their prizes to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado.
The top teams were (click on each to see their display):
Jim Baldwin,Community Food Share
Executive Director, was also a judge for the contest. Afterwards he
shared with us the work his organization is doing towards providing
food for the hungry. Food is a basic need, but it can inspire so much
more. In one instance, free groceries helped to improve attendance at a
high school. Now that's incentive to learn!
Don Grantham and Bill MacGowan each gave
a brief speech thanking employees for their hard work that contributed
to Sun's success in the past year, and the bright prospect for the
future. Bill, an ex-Colorado resident, also delivered a humorous Top
