Last year, a friend invited me to join her for the Revlon Run/Walk for Women fundraiser in Los Angeles. Sponsored each year by Revlon and the entertainment industry (hey, this is L.A.), all money raised by participants goes to the fight against women's cancers. I set up a personal fundraising page, sent out some emails to friends and family, and raised more than $1,300 without breaking a sweat. Then on the day before Mothers' Day, I proudly walked through downtown L.A. with 50,000 other people who were celebrating life, cheering for cancer survivors and honoring the memories of loved ones.
Who says nobody walks in L.A.?
This year, I formed a Sun Microsystems team to participate in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women on May 12. All of my Sun colleagues are invited to join the team for a truly inspriational experience. If you're not in Southern California, no problem! You can join the team and raise funds (I don't think anyone cares if you actually walk the 5K), or you can make a contribution to a team member. We'll request matching corporate funds for donations made by Sun employees following the event.
