Using the additional Woodstock Components not included in Netbeans 6.0

There are several useful Woodstock Components that are not bundled with Netbeans 6.0. These components were still under construction and not fully QA certified during the release of Netbeans 6.0, so they do not appear in the bundled components palette. However, they can be separately downloaded and added to the Palette as explained in this article - Updating Woodstock Component Library in NetBeans 6.

Once the additional components are installed , they appear in the palette as shown below and can be drag and dropped on to a visual web application.

You can preview the components via a Sample Application and view its source code to find out how to use these components in your application.

The most interesting components are

Winston, is there any chance that these components can be delivered as a NetBeans update?

Thank you.
Best regards.

Winston, will you provide a new ThemeBuilder for Woodstock 4.1.1? It would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Stephan

Stephan, the plan is to move the ThemeBuilder to the Woodstock repository after the holiday break. In that way, the ThemeBuilder will be always built using the latest woodstock theme source.

Hi there

We need to use some of components in our application so we have updated to Woodstock 4.1.1. The problem begins when we try to deploy our application on glassfish. All the components simply disappear. We have also tried creating new projects and even deployed a sample vehicles project. Please assist us as we need to make some progress.

Hi Tongayi, if you send the details of your problem to the Woodstock User alias (users@woodstock.dev.java.net), they may be able to help you solve the problem.

Hi there,

I have exactly the same problem. Im using Woodstock 4.1.1, and when I deploy and run the web app with Glassfish V2 the woodstock components simply does not show or render. If I include some normal HTML code in my JSP file it shows. I get this problem in Netbeans and Eclipse.

Hi there

I am also having some problems with dropdowns inside tables. I bind the items property to an objectlistdataprovider's options and set selected to the currentrow reference in the table. the table comes up with the dropdowns showing the first row of the options bound to it even when this is not the case. I tried the converters for the dropdowns and it seems these are not working either. the server log shows that the values supplied do not match the items in the list.

Are they any references/tutorials for binding dropdown components inside a table.

Hi Khosro, Stephan, Tongayi, you could download the 4.1.1 example war (https://woodstock.dev.java.net/files/documents/6231/78989/example.war) and deploy it in glassfish and see if you see any problem. If you further see problem, please report them at users@woodstock.dev.java.net.

are there new information available about your ThemeBuilder?

Thanks.

Hi Stephan, I'm planning to put the source in to Woodstock repository, so that it could be built made available along with component and theme jars during woodstock milestone builds.

Just downloaded the woodstock comp. for a project. I noticed that the Visual Web 1.1/1.2 support will not work with this component library. Is it necessary to have a JDK1.5 container and framework.
