  • Man charged with shooting traffic light near UCLA; cops find 10K rounds in van, locker
I would love to hear from DHS how their current security regime would have identified this chap, who seems a far more real threat to America than anyone that airport ID checks have caught so far.
  • The CONSEGI 2008 Declaration: Six Nations "Just Say No" to ISO-IEC
No doubt about it in my mind, either ISO puts its shop in order very soon or it ceases to be the standards-authority-of-record for software and the Internet. And "in order" means a serious root-and-branch change, not a few tweaks to the set of flakey gentlemens' agreements that seem to rule now. Only fly in this ointment is WTO, watch for heavy lobbying there RSN.
  • Hadoop Live CD at OpenSolaris.org
I've looked a little at Hadoop and there's no doubt it's challenging to get going. Hopefully this Live CD, which claims "From bootup to Hadoop cluster in 15 minutes" will make things much easier.
