We are excited to announce the release of version 2.2.0 of the WebLogic Server Kubernetes Operator. The operator provides support for Fusion Middleware Infrastructure domains running on Kubernetes. This means that WebLogic Server applications using Oracle’s Application Development Framework (ADF) can now be deployed and managed in Kubernetes using the WebLogic Operator. The Operator uses a common set of Kubernetes APIs to provide support for operations such as: provisioning, life cycle management, application versioning, product patching, scaling, and security.
This version of the operator manages Fusion Middleware (FMW) Infrastructure domains running on Kubernetes. It adds support for FMW Infrastructure domain configurations that are persisted to a Persistent Volume (PV/PVC), and enabling the use of tooling that is native to this infrastructure for monitoring, logging, tracing, security, and such. The operator source code, samples, and documentation can be found in the GitHub project repository, and the operator image is available to be pulled from Docker Hub.In this version of the Kubernetes Operator, we have added the following functionality and support:
Our future plans include enhancements to the WebLogic Monitoring Exporter and Logging Exporter to support FMW Infrastructure domains. In addition, by providing support for Fusion Middleware Infrastructure domains, and ADF applications, we have begun to deliver support for Fusion Middleware products running on Kubernetes using the WebLogic Operator. We hope this announcement is helpful to those of you seeking to deploy FMW Infrastructure applications on Kubernetes, and look forward to your feedback.
