Suffering From 'Disconnected Document' Syndrome? Learn How to Defeat It!
Thanks to tight integration between Oracle Content Management and Oracle enterprise applications, Oracle has delivered a focused, comprehensive approach to the management of enterprise application documents. By relying on the features, functionality, and underlying integration framework of Oracle Content Management, Oracle Enterprise Application Documents provides organizations with an integrated set of content management products to capture, classify, manage, and retain all business content.
"When your employees can't see critical enterprise documents like invoices, customer agreements, and product specifications while they are working in their CRM and ERP applications, they can feel like they are flying blind," says Andy MacMillan, vice president of product management at Oracle.
Now, thanks to a comprehensive set of content management services, Oracle Applications customers can make all paper-based and electronic documents directly visible, searchable, and manageable from within Oracle Applications.
To achieve this, Oracle has engineered a single approach that works in two distinct contexts: CRM applications that require flexible, ad hoc access to customer and product documents, and ERP applications with high-volume, transactional requirements.
Deep Integration with Applications and Business Processes
As the only company that uses a common technology platform to deliver both industry-leading enterprise applications and best-of-breed content management, Oracle is in a unique position to be able to offer such a comprehensive approach, says MacMillan.
That approach includes a unified set of applications adapters that deliver business content, including both electronic documents and scanned images. Certified for Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise, and Oracle's Siebel Customer Relationship Management, these adapters are designed to preserve integration with enterprise applications during application upgrades.
Thanks to open standards like BPEL, these documents can be quickly integrated into custom business processes. This also means customers can take advantage of business activity monitoring (BAM) systems--such as the one offered in the Oracle SOA Suite--to monitor documents and processes via real-time dashboards.
