Gartner PCC Summary & Reactions
By Kellsey Ruppel-Oracle on Apr 01, 2011
We just wrapped up attending the Gartner Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit. In just 2.5 days and 50+ sessions, the attendees gained a ton of insight from leading Gartner analysts and learned a lot more about the PCC picture - from social software and analytics to measuring the ROI of PCC initiatives, cloud and SaaS, as well as migrating PCC tools to mobile environments.
Of all the sessions that the Oracle team attended, the one that resonated the most with us was "The User Experience Platform: Product Convergence and Market Expansion" presented by leading Gartner portal analyst Gene Phifer. He explained how the user experience platform (UXP) will allow enterprise developers and end users to create cross-platform user interfaces via a single set of integrated technologies, tying together currently disparate tools for creating Web sites, portals, mashups, RIA and mobile apps. In fact, he also noted how the future UXP market will usurp the markets for portal products mashup tools and mobile infrastructure. Gene indicated that the UXP brings together the technologies to support critical user experience development methodologies like user-centered design, usability testing and analytics.
It was great to see that the content that Gene presented and the discussions that were had are exactly in line with our strategy for Oracle WebCenter Suite moving forward. While we realize this market is still developing, we're excited as to where it will take us in the future! Did you attend Gartner PPC? What were your key takeaways?
