ARMA Conference: Oracle Recap
By Kellsey Ruppel on Nov 18, 2010
Oracle really enjoyed our time at the ARMA International 2010 Conference last week. Starting with the Opening Ceremonies, in which Victor Owuor, Senior Director of Software Development at Oracle, participated, there was a lot of energy and enthusiasm among the conference participants. It was great meeting with existing customers and speaking with some future ones!
A few themes came up a number of times, both in sessions and in conversations:
- Records managers must demonstrate their value to their organizations (we feel this guidance is also appropriate for content and knowledge managers as well; actually it's good advice for any function)
- Records managers must work across IT, compliance, LOB, and other teams to get their job done
- The breadth of information and records sources across an organization is expanding
- The convergence at many organizations of content, knowledge, and records management into a single central function
We also heard from a number of Oracle Application users about the need to records manage their application data. Oracle has unique capabilities to address these needs and providing ECM capabilities for applications is a point of emphasis for Oracle ECM.
We'd love to hear your thoughts on ARMA, the points above, or other records and content management topics on your mind!
