Employees Connect Chat Series Welcomes IBM's Chuck Hamilton

The Sun in Second Life Core team yesterday arranged for a learning session with IBM' Chuck Hamilton (IBM Learning). This was for Sun employees only and a follow-up to some information sharing sessions Sun did last year with IBM. We hope to continue to learn from each other on the value of learning in virtual worlds and for global organizations like Sun and IBM.

It was a great session - Chuck shared with us his view of the future of learning, some projects going on at IBM (at a high level) and then we took a tour of some of the IBM public locations. We all talked via chat and voice throughout the session and learned a lot.

Thanks again Chuck and we look forward to having additional information sharing and collaboration sessions together!

Comments:

Please bring back Fiona May to work on your Second Life project. At least when she was in charge she communicated regularly with the Second Life community, now days I have a feeling that Sun has forgotten about those that are interested in hearing from them, attending events etc. Even the information on your islands is out of date - it used to be updated more often. Also who do we contact now - there is no one person I can find who is responsible for Sun's presence in SL and those I do speak to are clueless.

Hi Kevin - thanks for your feedback! There have many changes at Sun regarding the public facing presense in Second Life. The project is now part of Mary Smaragdis' group and I'm certain she would love to hear your thoughts! I'll make sure Mary sees this message.

Thanks again -

Christy

Amen Kevin, thank you for having the courage to voice what so many are thinking, BRING BACK FIONA MAY and CHRIISTOPHER CARTER, those two people did so much in Sun SL, always kept in touch, events were always going on every week, the information provided to us were always up to date and even notices of up coming events and "Good to know" information were sent, days in advance. We always had someone to contact when we had questions are needed direction and help. Even today, if you need some form of SL help, they are always available to lend assistance and direction, also as a side note you should check out the cool things they are working on now. Sun Microsystems made the worse mistake in losing them and who they have now are clueless and thoughtless, it is so sad too see such a great business presence go to the trash bin.

Hello Kevin and Carl and to the great Sun Employees that still contact us all the time, I want to extend a heart felt thank you for Fiona and Myself, I am overwhelmed at times at the words and support I receive from those that experienced the incredible Sun project before it was taken away from us. I do wish success for all of the current Sun SL project members and hope that they will quickly turn around and refocus back on the community at large, which is really what it is all about. Also, as to what we are doing now, please check out the great site "SL Things to do" to learn what our latest project is, which has just opened. thank you again for the wonderful support and yes, I agree, bring back Fiona May!!!!! <Chuckles>
