This blog is intended for VM template users and VM template builders or people generally interested in virtualization. It is part of a community effort that produces VM templates and shares ideas, best practices and code used to build, deliver and support virtual machine templates. We felt a need for a communication vehicle that helps us announcing various deliveries of the community and news related to its work. Blogging appears to be a natural choice to address the need.
We do not only intend to be announcing releases of VM templates over time, but would like to highlight other facets of these templates such as how people are using them and how their
builds can be automated.
What's a VM Template?
We use the term VM template accross our docs as a synonym to a VM image containing an operating system and layered software (middleware or applications) that is lightly pre-configured for immediate use and customization to suit specific deployment needs.
We hope, you will find the information presented through this blog useful and the reading enjoyable. Feedback is welcome!
You can check out the announcement of the delivery of the GlassFish Web Space Server 10 VM image to learn about our latst delivery. More to come about the background and details of this effort. Stay tuned!
