The archive project module is part of the daily build

Not too long ago, I was working on a Netbeans module that folks could get from the update center. The module is the archive project module, which allows users to work with J2EE and Java EE binary archives, like war files, ejb jar files and the like.

Basically, you can edit the deployment descriptors, create resources that are deployed "with" the archive, build a new version of the archive, verify it and [this is HUGE] deploy it to GFv1/SJASAPE9... All from inside NetBeans.

And, if you are very tricky, you can integrate a pre-packaged archive into your own enterprise application, by opening an archive as a packaged archive and including it.

Well, the archive project module got integrated into the NetBeans 5.5 nightly build...

You can read more about using the archive project in this entry.
