and Oracle have a long-standing relationship committed to providing our joint
customers with innovative solutions to meet their evolving real-world
requirements. This relationship is highlighted by continuous certification
of PowerPath on Oracle VM releases and numerous
EMC storage certifications.
We will have Oracle Linux and Oracle VM experts that can answer your questions at our Booth #1223. Come and visit us to see how we work with EMC. Exhibition hours are:
Capita IT Enterprise Services has launched a new service that enables businesses to migrate mission critical Oracle software deployments into a secure UK cloud. The service delivers Capita Private Cloud; a secure, private cloud platform, using Oracle VM and Oracle Linux, allowing businesses to adopt a blend of public and private cloud services without the complexity of managing multiple suppliers and contracts. Will O’Brien, VP Alliances & Channels at Oracle UK & Ireland, said: “Oracle VM has been a key enabler to support Capita’s Private Cloud for Oracle solution.”
Capita Private Cloud for Oracle includes:
• Server virtualisation environment using Oracle products;
• Onshore managed service and licensing up to and including the operating system;
• Provisioning of high performance compute and storage infrastructure;
• Templated secure network environment within ISO27001 certified data centre;
• OPEX pay-as-you-use charging options with no minimum commitment;
• Designed and implemented in collaboration with Oracle to help ensure an optimised environment from an operational and licensing perspective;
• Potential to integrate with other Capita IT enterprise services such as networks and collaboration.
A new Oracle press release this week highlights the use of Oracle Linux and Oracle VM at Epsilon. From the press release:

Oracle VM customer survey
Upcoming webcasts, in person events, new white papers and customer stories, and much more
I wanted to highlight the Oracle VM customer survey in particular. This is a fantastic opportunity to let us know how you use Oracle VM in your environment. It's a short survey (about 3 minutes), but your comments will be carefully read and considered by our Oracle VM product management team.

Enterprise applications drive mission-critical businesses, including our own, both in production and IT. Oracle VM is the foundation that fuels and maintains the enterprise applications in our own IT. With well over 182,400 virtual guests and growing and nearly 20,000 Oracle VMs deployed to power Oracle Managed Cloud Services. Many of our IT enterprise customers also rely on Oracle VM for their operations.
Enterprise workloads and demanding cloud infrastructures require a technology foundation built for massive scaling, availability and ease of management. Oracle VM’s unique application-driven virtualization architecture combined with integrated support for enterprise applications, including Oracle Database, deliver an enterprise proven solution to help simplify and accelerate IT. Join us in this two webcast series to learn how Oracle VM powers Oracle's massive production and IT operations and how you can benefit from the same integrated technology to transform your data center. Here is a pic from our booth at VMworld Barcelona. Join Oracle at booth #301 to talk to product experts and learn about the latest on Oracle VM, Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux, Oracle VM VirtualBox, and Oracle Secure Global Desktop!
Every year after Oracle OpenWorld, many of the slide decks become available for you to download. If you were at these sessions, it's great to have these PDFs for reference, and if you weren't able to go, or had sessions overlapping, you can read the slides and get a sense of the key points.
You can find the slides from the Oracle OpenWorld 2014 Content Catalog. You can search for sessions that you'd like to download. Some good keywords are "Oracle Linux", "Oracle VM", "OpenStack", etc.

Fusion-io, now a SanDisk company, introduces support for Oracle VM
Fusion ioMemory has long history helping customers accelerate Oracle Linux environments. With its latest release of Virtual Storage Layer for Fusion ioMemory products, SanDisk now offers full support for Oracle VM expanding the ways that customers can take advantage of the combination of Oracle virtualization and Fusion ioMemory flash.
The new Fusion ioMemory Atomic Series provides premium performance for server-side PCIe application acceleration. The Atomic Series delivers the industry’s highest capacity flash in a PCIe form factor with up to 6.4TB per card. Improved error checking and correction technologies further add value for the most demanding enterprise customers.
Server-side Fusion ioMemory accelerates database applications placing data closer to the CPU and system memory resources for outstanding performance results. . This also allows customers to cache data on the server to accelerate application performance and dramatically reduces the load on Storage Area Networks (SANs). This also eliminates the I/O bottlenecks associated with highly virtualized servers while scaling up VM performance and density to increase the number of VMs that can efficiently run on a server.
Be sure to stop by the SanDisk kiosk (SLX-020) at the Oracle Linux and Virtualization Showcase and visit SanDisk booth #1429 at Oracle OpenWorld to learn more about how Fusion ioMemory and the full range of SanDisk Enterprise offering for Oracle applications. SanDisk will also be hosting two Speaking Sessions:
“Accelerate Revenue and Reduce TCO with SanDisk Shared Flash”, presented by Jody Kirk, Director Product Management. Monday 9/29 at 2:30pm - 2:50pm, at Moscone South at the Scene and Be Heard Theatre (#313)
“Eliminating Transaction Latency in MySQL”, Conference Session, presented by Nisha Talagala, Fellow. Tuesday, 9/30 at 10:45am – 11:30am, at Moscone South #262.
As technology evolves, the complexity of securing our dynamic IT environment has changed, where the threats are no longer just access-based but now content-based. As such, there’s a requirement for intelligent software controlled security coupled with identity-based policy enforcement of all content. That’s where Fortinet comes in, with its network security appliances – appliances that provide an extensive array of functionality an organization needs to detect threat prevention within legitimate content, even from trusted sources and authorized applications.
Fortigate has been certified to work with Oracle VM. Drop by Fortigate’s kiosk at the Oracle Linux and Virtualization Showcase, with Oracle OpenStack at Oracle OpenWorld to learn more about Security solutions for your network.
Want to know how to implement security in an increasingly dynamic world? Be sure to join Fortinet’s leading technical security expert, Ken McAlpine, VP of Network Security Solutions at the Scene and Be Heard Theater (#313) for a 20 minute session.
Scene & Be Heard Theatre session: Monday, Sep 29, 3:00 - 3:20 p.m at Moscone South, booth #313
