You might have seen our post last week on Oracle VM Templates for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c. And now just a few days later, I'd like to tell you about some brand new templates for Oracle Database 12c and Oracle Database 11g.
If you've used these templates before, you understand how great they are. They allow you to get up and running with the Oracle Database quite literally in minutes. But these new versions also have a huge number of great new features:
- Support for Single Instance & Oracle Restart. This is covered in a great blog post by Wim Coekaerts.
- The updated deploycluster tool provides fully automated end-to-end Single Instance and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) deployment with Oracle VM. This tool uses the Oracle VM API to make deployment quick and easy.
- Support for several automation features for Oracle Database 12c, including Flex Cluster and Flex ASM, creation and deletion of Container/Pluggable databases, database creation inside and ACFS filesystem, and more.
- The templates use a minimal installation of Oracle Linux for either 32-bit or 64-bit systems with nonessential packages removed.
- And much more.
You can learn much more about the templates and download them from the Oracle VM Templates for Oracle Database page, or you can read through the previously mentioned blog entry from Wim, where he gives a step by step breakdown of deploying a Single Instance Oracle Database with the new templates.
And if you are new to Oracle VM Templates and want to spend a full hour with Oracle experts in a step-by-step hands on lab, please join us at Oracle OpenWorld 2013 for this session:
