EMC and Oracle have a deep history of collaboration dating back to 1995. EMC is a Platinum Partner and as part of the OPN program gets pre-release access to Oracle code to test and to ensure that as Oracle and EMC products are brought to market they are proven solutions and hardened for real world use. In addition Oracle Engineering and support hold regular cadence of calls with EMC E-Lab to discuss product testing status, roadmap alignment and any open customer support issues.
EMC E-Lab has active relationships with Oracle development, one great example is PowerPath and its certification with Oracle Linux with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel
and Oracle VM
. EMC PowerPath is host-based software for automated data path management, failover and recovery, and optimized load balancing. PowerPath automates, standardizes, and optimizes data paths in physical and virtual environments as well as cloud deployments to deliver high availability and performance.
EMC E-Lab helps customers adopt new technologies by leveraging their validated solutions and processes. The E-Lab Platform team runs qualification cycles against Oracle Linux and Oracle VM when the beta is released to partners for testing. This qualification work is performed against VNXe, VNX, VPLEX, VMAX, and XtremIO. The testing is performed with DM-MPIO and PowerPath. During PowerPath release cycles, Oracle and EMC qualify the new release of PowerPath against these EMC storage platforms. When new releases of EMC storage or their storage operating environment become available, it kicks off qualification cycles with the current releases of Oracle Linux and Oracle VM. The end result of this exercise is the EMC Support Matrix

EMC has also published a VMAX Engineering White Paper
last week, covering Oracle VM 3.3 Storage Connect for VMAX with EMC Storage Integrator V2.0.
We wish you Happy Holidays and the best for 2015. We will return with Friday Spotlights on Jan 9.
