Friday Spotlight: Customer's success with Virtual Compute Appliance

We are happy to share a customer story that BT in Spain completes application deployment in a matter of minutes, not days or weeks, and reduces capital expenditures by 50%.

BT in Spain serves 29 of the IBEX 35 companies—a list of organizations with the highest trading volume in the Spanish stock market—and 2,000 of the 5,000 largest companies in the country.

To provide customers with Oracle Cloud applications and other infrastructure-as-a-service solutions, BT in Spain deployed Oracle’s Virtual Compute Appliance in its main data center located in Madrid. BT in Spain’s platform enables the company’s clients to deploy Oracle solutions up to 7x faster than with any other platform, with no configuration errors, and it optimizes operating costs.

The Virtual Compute Appliance’s various components, such as Oracle VM, are designed for mission-critical uptime and availability. This Oracle converged-infrastructure solution has enabled BT in Spain to reduce capital expenditure by 50% and instantly respond to existing and new customer requests. The ability to design and deploy tailor-made databases faster and more efficiently gives BT in Spain an undeniable edge in the crowded cloud-hosting market.

“Time-to-application with Oracle’s Virtual Compute Appliance was remarkable. In a matter of minutes, not days or weeks, we were operational and in a position to instantly respond to our customers’ needs,” said Raul Chico, head of business development, BT in Spain.

Friday Spotlight: KT and Oracle VM

Happy Friday!

Our spotlight this week is on KT and their use of Oracle VM.

Oracle Helps KT with IT Transformation

In the first video, Jung-Sik Suh, SVP of Cloud Convergence at KT, discusses the IT challenges they recently faced. To support their next generation customers, they needed to diversify their product offerings and expand their capacity, and they had to do this while simultaneously merging with another company! They decided to design a private cloud using Oracle VM and Oracle Linux that resulted in a 70% reduction of infrastructure cost and 50% reduction in operation cost.

KT Benefits from Oracle's Integrated Solutions

In the second video, Mr. Suh discusses how implementing an Oracle software stack that is designed to work together, including Oracle VM, Oracle Linux, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and more, allows them to save costs and pass the savings on to their customers, and in the future, will provide a profit center for them, as well.

Airbus Selects Oracle Secure Global Desktop to Increase Efficiency and Accelerate Time to Market

In case you didn't see it this morning, I wanted to point you to our news release on Airbus selecting Oracle Secure Global Desktop to get real-time, secure access to their test flight performance data from remote sites. This is really an amazing use care for secure application access and allows them to position teams all around the EU (or the world, if they need to!) to monitor test flights, and to get information back from those engineers immediately.

If you're going to Oracle OpenWorld, you're in for a treat because you can hear all about this story directly from Laurent Peltiers of Airbus in the session Implementing Secure Access to Oracle Applications and Critical Data [CON9547], on Tuesday, September 24 at 3:45PM in the Westin - Concordia. Laurent will be joined by Iain Robertson from NHS Lothian who will discuss how his organization uses Oracle Secure Global Desktop, too. It will be a great session and we hope to see you there!
