Oracle Desktop Virtualization is at 2011 EDUCAUSE
By Chris Kawalek-Oracle on Oct 18, 2011
The desktop virtualization team is on-site starting this afternoon at 2011 EDUCAUSE in Philadelphia, PA. This is another trade show where all of the Oracle demos are being hosted and displayed using the Oracle desktop virtualization portfolio.
Using desktop virtualization in a trade show booth is really a perfect application because it allows attendees to view whatever demo they want at any of the demo pods. Gone are the days where everyone is crowded around one pod waiting for a demo while another pod stands idle! It also allows for easy setup from templates that can be easily swapped or re-used from show to show (we're using the same set of backend servers and Sun Ray Clients that we used last week at Cerner Health Conference for this show, just with different virtual desktop images!).
This premise also translates into everyday business and education scenarios, too. For example, a computer lab in a school can use desktop virtualization to share student workstations, but keep a persistent environment for each student. Or a contact center can allow agents to work at any available work space, simply by logging in to their dedicated virtual desktop from any available workspace.
For 2011 EDUCAUSE, we're very excited to be hosting the Oracle demos in booth 526. If you happen to be there, please stop by and have a look at Oracle desktop virtualization in action.
