Friday Spotlight: Oracle Private Cloud Appliance Multi-tenancy

Oracle Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) is an engineered system for quickly deploying Oracle VM environments. Integrating compute, network and storage components in a converged infrastructure solution, PCA lets customers deploy VMs within hours of initial power-up.

Many customers treat the PCA as a pool of compute power shared by all guest VMs. Others need to guarantee isolation for multiple 'tenants' (different customers, clients or departments) and do so by dedicating servers to tenants, for concerns of security, chargeback or resource isolation.

Starting with PCA release 2.2.1, a systems administrator can define "tenant groups" containing servers dedicated to different tenants. The blog article Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) Tenant Groups describes this feature in detail and gives an example of creating one. See the blog, and the official documentation for information on this new capability.

Friday Spotlight: Why Choose Oracle for Your Private Cloud Infrastructure?

Walking out of the business review meeting, you feel great. You've just found out that you now have a budget to purchase a private cloud infrastructure. Getting the money was the easy part. Now comes the hard part: selection, evaluation and decision.

Let’s start with your requirements: First, you need a private cloud infrastructure that will run the Oracle database and Oracle applications your company is using to run the business. There are few choices in the market. Which one should you choose?

Second, you have heard about private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid cloud. Your company can’t move to public cloud right now. You need to plan for the consolidation of many physical servers first, virtualize to reduce costs and then plan for whichever cloud deployment that will not disrupt the business and profitability of your company. So, which cloud deployment to start?

Third, you have also read about cool new technologies like Docker and Openstack. You would like to explore those technologies and see how they fit into your cloud journey. Where can you learn about this?

While deliberating on these requirements, you see an invite to attend a webcast: Why Choose Oracle for Your Private Cloud Infrastructure? Glancing at the content, you find that this webcast may answer some of your questions. If you attend the webcast, you will:

- Get clarity among different cloud infrastructure options

- Learn how Oracle is using cutting edge technologies, such as Docker and Openstack

- Hear why customers choose Oracle Private Cloud Appliance over other converged infrastructure vendors

There is a live chat, so you can ask the speakers questions to help you in the selection process.

Why not spend an hour to get your answers? You click on the Registration button and mark on your calendar March 8th, 11:00 A.M. Pacific Standard Time.

May be the selection process won’t be so difficult after all.
