Think Global, Act Local

Whats happening at the top?? What do we see Sun moving forward?? How are the products going to be aligned?? Have I even mapped emails to faces or personas who drive the way Sun grows?? Some of these along with a wide range of questions found their home in the form of answers :). And all this was at the GTLC conference held at Sun during the last two days. It was nice to meet some of the Distinguished Engineers and hear directly from them about various technological areas and know their thought process on the entire gamut of things. It also exploded the plethora of opportunities that exist within Sun for making an impact on things outside Sun. It may be doing injustice by listing the exact agenda of the meeting, without the readers being unaware of whats going on. However, to give a brief, it was about Sun's product lines, how can the alignment made more effective, especially reflected in the breakout sessions, which ensured one to one interaction between the techies and DEs. It was good to hear "as customers speak". Some Panel discussions were on topics which one may not directly relate to, however, in the long run I am sure that they will make an impact on our thought process, decision making etc etc, and thats what they were intended at. Over and above everything, the organizers did a good job in bringing together the community and the DEs together and building a larger community eventually. It was an effort to what I term "Think Global, Act Local". Elucidating will be overdoing the explanation, but I am sure the folks reading it got it :)
