Connect the Dots to Disrupt

By Angela Mazza-Teufer

Disrupt, or be disrupted. More companies are acknowledging this, asking what fundamental changes they should make to their operations. Ultimately, disruptive businesses are those powered by speed. The can respond to what is happening in their market and they’re geared up to know what will happen. Information siloes can’t exist in this environment. Intel needs to be connected throughout the business for a first-mover advantage – that’s how you disrupt. But who should be the face of this connected culture – and how do we equip them with the ability to be the hub of the operation?

As we look forward to London Tech Week one of the key conversations is the winning formula behind creating a connected business – and who should be responsible for it.

CFOs and their finance teams can be the hub of this ‘hyper-connectivity’ as they are perfectly poised to ‘join the dots’ between the business areas, seeing the broader picture and describing it to the wider organization.

To date, modern CFOs and their teams have been reactive – keeping track of the business’ performance. More than a third of these professionals still spend more time collecting data rather than analyzing it, but moving forward, we want to see CFOs using that information both proactively and predictively.

The new role might seem daunting, but it is something we’re already seeing some finance leaders embrace. Of course, it’s a shift – not a complete job change. But, as a storyteller, they can take advantage of applications that have additional intelligence built into them.

With #LTW connecting communities from across the industry, Oracle is excited to lead the conversation around organizations embracing digitalization as a way to get ahead and take the crucial next step to becoming more connected with their applications. No one wants to be disrupted, and it’s the hyper-connected organizations who will strive ahead of the competition thanks to their lightning-fast ability to react and predict market changes.
