Java ME: Another day, another SDK, another app store

Sun's been making the SDKs and IDE for Java ME development (like the SDK for CDLC, for CDC and the NetBeans Mobility Pack) since the start of the Java ME platform. And carriers and phone manufacturers alike have been providing custom development tools that add handset or network specific goodies for those that want them. Like those from Nokia, Sprint, Motorola to name but three.

So its good to see another phone maker join in the fun with LG Electronics release of its LG Java SDK 1.0, supporting the current MSA version of Java ME, together with a bunch of optional APIs and features specific to LG phones.

And although the fight is still on over who controls the retailing of mobile content, its good to see new and independent Java ME application stores open for business, like the new Phoload store.
