Final RC (5) for GlassFish 3.1.2

By definition, one can never know how many Release Candidate builds will be required for any given release.

For GlassFish 3.1.2 we've have two community-reported (and low-risk) bug fixes integrated that justified that we first put out RC 4 (over the week-end) and now Release Candidate 5 (aka build 23).

GlassFish 3.1.2 RC 5

RC5 is really just RC4, only with a new bug fix integrated. Thanks to folks that reported the issues, they help make the product better for everyone.

GlassFish 3.1.2 RC3 is here

GlassFish 3.1.2 Build 21 is now available and flagged as RC3.
Get it while it's hot, it may be the final build if we don't run into major issues. We've never been so close to a final 3.1.2 release! (do I sound like a broken record or am I just excited that this great release is finally here? ;)

GlassFish 3.1.2 Release Candidate builds are here!

GlassFish 3.1.2 has never been so close to a GA/FCS release with promoted build b19 now available as Release Candidate (RC) 1. In fact you might as well go straight to RC2 (build 20), also now available from the promoted builds page.

If you're not sure which archive to use, try this one. Another RC build (RC3) is planned in the next few days. Hopefully it'll be the last one before the product ships.

So make sure you test your applications work properly with the latest promoted build and check out recent blog posts on 3.1.2 if you're wondering what to expect from this release. See you in a short while for a stable public release!

Now you know what to do over the week-end! :)

GlassFish 3.1.1 RC 2 is here

Quickly following the initial release candidate of GlassFish 3.1.1, here is RC2! Promoted build #12 has 11 important bug fixes (see JIRA for details) and is the latest and possible last build for this release of GlassFish.

As always, you can grab those latest bits from this URL. Magic decoder ring: -ml is for multi-lingual, executables (.sh, .exe) are installers, and .zip is well, a ready-to-unpack archive. You have the choice of web profile vs. full platform too and download size starts at 32MB.

If you've previously installed a promoted build you can also use our built-in Store Update Center to refresh the bits (pkg image-update from the CLI).

GlassFish 3.1.1 Release Candidate 1 is here

Build 11 has been promoted and this is our first Release Candidate available for GlassFish 3.1.1.

You can get it from the promoted download page with a choice of platform installers or simply a ZIP archive with all of them available in either Web Profile or Full Platform versions (-ml are the MultiLingual versions).

Hundreds of bugs have been fixed in this highly compatible release. If you're running 3.0, 3.0.1 or 3.1, you should really consider moving to 3.1.1 when it ships later this month (if all goes well).

See this previous post for more info on the content of this release and expect another RC before the final version.

NetBeans 7.0 RC 1 is out

With this release candidate now out the door with a "Java EE" download at 152 MB, you get a fully-featured Java EE 6 IDE with GlassFish 3.1 included. A really well integrated too. Just open the box and start coding!

We've previously covered the milestone 2, beta and beta 2 releases so you probably already know about the support for Java 7, Maven 3, HTML 5 editing and the overall improved support for Java EE 6, GlassFish, WebLogic and JBoss.

NetBeans 7

The NetBeans Tutorials and Articles has been updated with fresh content and the final bits are expected in April (and a 7.1 release is scheduled towards the end of the summer). This is the first version to contain the GlassFish 3.1 final bits.

Two new GlassFish 3.1 RC releases!

The pace is accelerating - we now have GlassFish RC3 and RC4 available! Check the magic decoder ring for details.

Build 43 (RC4) is what you should be testing and this link has the 35+ bugs fixed since RC2 (in the main "GlassFish" JIRA). The promoted builds download page has several artifacts for you to choose from - web profile vs. full platform, installer-based (.exe or .sh) or ZIP, and multi-lingual (-ml).

As usual you can also use the update tool. Previous release candidate releases are covered here and here.

We've never been so close to releasing GlassFish 3.1 Open Source Edition! Did I say that before already? We should have a fun launch.
