Jazoon, JAX California, and Brazilian week - it's conference season again

Sparky is on the road again with GlassFish presence around the world in multiple conferences. This past week Jazoon in Zurich had Java EE, GlassFish, JAX-RS, Servlet, JSF all covered while JAX in California also had a good number of Java EE-related talks (see this Java EE 7 article).

FISL, the largest Open Source conference in Brazil (7500 participants last year) is coming up this week with OpenJDK, GlassFish, JavaFX, NetBeans, Java EE 7, and of course JDK 7 all covered by subject matter experts.

Expect most of these talks and possibly demos to show up here on TheAquarium, on slideshare or on our YouTube channel.

Jazoon Preview - GlassFish, JavaEE 6, Hudson, Metro, JavaFX... and James

Not exactly the Antipodes but I think we can argue we have the whole world covered... While FISL is hosted in Porto Alegre, Jazoon will be held in Zurich.

Check out the Jazoon Home Page and Schedule and check Alexis' List of Talks related to GlassFish.

And, if you are on the other side, check GlassFish @FISL!

Jazoon 2009 and GlassFish Day

GlassFish Day at Jazoon (register) is only a week away and the (almost final) agenda has been posted (Marek will stand in for Harold for the Metro talk) and is now included in the GlassFish events iCal feed. This is the second year in a row we're running this free event on the first day of the Jazoon conference in beautiful Zurich.

While not an unconference, this is meant to be an informative and pretty laid back day with lots of opportunities to interact with other attendees and the various speakers. Please make sure to register if you plan on attending (we have some space left in a nice and comfy theater).

Given the energy spent by the organizers and Christian in particular, visiting literally dozens of JUGs around Europe, I expect Jazoon to be yet another successful Java conference. James Gosling will be the first keynote speaker (other Sun speakers are listed here). Get the full agenda there and a dedicated Google iCal feed here.

GlassFish swimming around Europe

Hot off the wheels of the GlassFish Workshop in Prague, the next few weeks will be packed with GlassFish events in Europe :

Java Application Server Day - this Thursday in Genova, Italy. Last year's IDE shootout was reported to be a fun and instructive event (register).
University GlassFish in Amesrfoort, Netherlands ( and Sun-sponsored) - a late GlassFish afternoon with Sun, partners, and drinks (register)
GlassFish Day at Jazoon. The agenda is not final but it fill feature key members of the GlassFish community and will cover a larger part of the GlassFish Portfolio. Please register.

All events are free to attend. Keep track of GlassFish-related events here and using this iCal feed.

Of course there's also CommunityOne and JavaOne (see Arun's post on GlassFish content). If you're around on Sunday prior to the events, don't forget the Unconference (please register!) and the party.

GlassFish Day @ Jazoon: D-3 (Agenda posted)

GlassFish Day button

(this should have been out a few days ago but somehow got stuck in the queue...)
We've finally got around to publishing the final version of the Jazoon GlassFish Day agenda. Clearly you'll notice it's not only about GlassFish the app server but rather about the broader and growing GlassFish community.

We'll have a pretty packed agenda with shorter than usual 45-minute sessions on JAX-RS/Jersey, Comet/IceFaces (See Ted's post), OpenESB, Tooling, JavaEE, OpenDS, and GlassFish v3. We'll even have a session with a topic based on attendance feedback, courtesy of Ludo Champenois.

As a reminder, this is a free event, but you need to register. I'll try to record the sessions and make them available on the GlassFish podcast.

GlassFish Day @ Jazoon: D-27

GlassFish at Jazoon

The Jazoon conference is less than a month away and it kicks off with a GlassFish Day on Monday June 23rd 2008. Clearly the agenda is still pretty much a place-holder at this point but given the number and the quality of the speakers (Jérôme, Paul, Andi, Pat, Ludo, ...) I'm expecting a high-quality event.

I'll be working on the detailed agenda (which may include some open space/unconference format) in the next few days. In the mean time Felipe has an overview of GlassFish talks at Jazoon.

Make sure you register for the GlassFish Day (marked as "Tutorial") so we have an idea at how many people we can expect. Again, this part of the conference is free.

GlassFish in Zurich (Jazoon)

GlassFish Day Jazoon logo

GlassFish is swimming East to India and Australia in the next couple of weeks:
- GlassFish Day in Hyderabad, India, Feb 29th 2008
- GlassFish Day in Sydney, Australia, March 6th 2008

After the mandatory stop in the Bay Area for CommunityOne, JavaOne and GlassFish-specific activities, GlassFish is heading for Switzerland for the Jazoon conference (see Christian's blog about this).

The agenda isn't yet finalized, but Jerome Dochez (GlassFish Architect) will be one of several speakers and will cover GlassFish v3 (interesting progress should be made in the coming months). This page will track the agenda as we go. Note this is a FREE event for all (the Jazoon web page isn't clear about this).
