GlassFish Awards Program Results - And recent GAP blog entries

We have so many winners for the GAP (GlassFish Awards Program) that highlighting them all here would have flooded TheAquarium readers with GAP content, so...

We started a dedicated GAP blog instead to discuss winners and other tidbits from the content. Here's a first digest :

• Full list of winners. More than 100!
Contributions from Brazil.
Top three winners: Ullrich, Michael, and Chris.
• Nice GeoMap with almost all of the winners on a single map with photos, bio and (of course) location.

GlassFish Update Center contest

GlassFish Update Center screenshot

The JavaPolis conference is right around the corner and the content is looking very good so no wonder it is sold out. The GlassFish team is taking this opportunity to run a new contest.

This time it's about writing a plugin for the Update Center (more blogs about the UC here. The winner will be announced during the conference next week but you do not need to attend to participate. This is your chance to package up (this can be very simple and very fast) your favorite framework or application and make it available to all GlassFish users. Think Spring, Wicket, Hibernate, CMS, etc...

There are multiple prizes. and the contest details (deadline, how to submit, rules for choosing the winner, ...) are here: http://glassfish.org/contest.

Fish For a Flat Screen Television

Download GlassFish, try it out, blog about your experiences, and get a chance to win a little prize. Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

Then it should sound even better when that "little prize" is a beautiful new 52-inch LCD HD TV.

Sreeni has an overview of the contest in his blog, plus Rajeshwar and Manveen have put together a screencast for you visual types. Or you can just go straight to the contest page. This is the biggest prize we've ever offered for a GlassFish-related contest. So do yourself a favor and get your entry submitted (by June 15th).

With such a nice prize at stake, it's really worth your while to put some thought into this and make your submission as good as possible. As the contest rules describe, judging will be based on criteria including:

  • Novelty and originality of the testimonial
  • Usefulness and character of the substantive feedback
  • The testimonial's interest and appeal to other users of GlassFish/Java EE 5 SDK/Java Application Platform SDK
  • Clarity in the expression about the user experience
  • How the blog demonstrates those features which are easy to use, or showcases a production deployment; and/or the ability to use the blog to improve any aspect of GlassFish/Java EE 5 SDK/Java Application Platform SDK

iPod Nano

One down, three to go. That's where the iPod giveaways stand in the GlassFish V2 Beta Download Contest. Tim Davidson of the United Kingdom has been named the contest's first winner (see the official winners page for more info).

Congratulations, Tim! And a big thanks to everyone who has participated so far.

How did Tim do it? And how can you get a shot at one of the three remaining iPods? It's simple. Just try out Sun's distribution of GlassFish V2 and submit your feedback. You'll be helping us by providing your thoughts on how we can make the GlassFish Application Server even better. And, if you're one of the lucky winners, you'll be helping yourself to a brand new iPod Nano.

Winners are selected every two weeks during the contest. So enter soon.

Also see the official contest rules and Ken's summary of the feedback generated in the contest so far.
