Reminder - JavaOne Call for Papers ends May 23rd

As you probably know by now, JavaOne 2011 is scheduled for October 2-6, 2011 in San Francisco. While it may be a tiny bit early to arranging your late-night agenda for that week, it's urgent that you realize that the call for papers is extremely short this year and closing May 23rd.

There are seven tracks planned this year with a total of talks that is reported to be increased over last year's conference. The program committee page should be soon updated with this year's track leads, both internal and external reviewers. So please make these people's life difficult and submit all your papers today!

Finally there's a JavaSpotlight Podcast episode dedicated to this Call for Papers (an interview with Sharat Chander, the Program Committee Chairperson) to learn all the tricks for a successful submission. Alternatively you should check out this blog entry on the JavaOne blog or this earlier blog post by Brian Goetz which certainly remains valid.

Good luck to all submitters!

Extended innovation : MySQL Conference 2009 CfP open till November 5

MySQL Users Conference and Expo 2009

The MySQL Users Conference and Expo 2009 call for participation has been extended. You have now time until November 5th to submit a proposal.

At the end of the regular CfP, we received 284 proposals, which is about 100 more than we got last year, before the extension. So, we are pleased, but we want more proposals for a better choice.

In particular, what is notably absent from the proposals, is contribution from other Sun communities. Java, Glassfish, Netbeans, Solaris, OpenOffice, are either completely amiss or faintly represented. We need good technical presentations on the above topics, involving MySQL usage and integration. And remember, the theme of the conference is Innovation Everywhere.

If you have missed the October 22nd deadline, here's your chance! Submit a proposal, now!

Innovation Everywhere - MySQL Users Conference and Expo 2009

Sakila Speaker

The MySQL Users Conference and Expo 2009 has open its Call for Papers. The past edition had close to 2,000 participants, and the next one shouldn't be any poorer.

The theme for the next conference is Innovation Everywhere. After being a earthquake in the business world with the acquisition by Sun, MySQL continues its course towards innovation, by pursuing new users, new markets, new needs with continuous innovation.

A novelty, compared to past edition, is an embedded MySQLCamp within the conference. It will be an open space, driven and organized by the community, oriented to developers and advanced users.
