Wonseok Kim - New Committer at TopLink Essentials

TheTopLink Essentials committers have approved Wonseok Kim as a new committer. We used a strawman approval process:Tom Ware was the advocate and submitted Wonseok's name and provided context, the TLE committers voted, and Tom carried the count and reported on the results. TopLink Essentials is the Reference Implementation of theJava Persistence API, a project in the GlassFish Community. TLE is gaining good adoption and it runs with at least these containers:GlassFish (v1 and...

Jetty on Grizzly

Another With Grizzly news piece. Jean-Francois announces that he has Jetty working on top of Grizzly. The result can then be used directly on GlassFish and, potentially, also on other places where Jetty is being used. Stay tuned for more Grizzly-related news, in the meantime, check JFA's blog entry.

Shoal is Out - JXTA + GlassFish == Dynamic Clustering

The code forShoal is now available. Shoal is a generic Dynamic Clustering framework (Overview) that is being used in GlassFish V2 but, like Grizzly and others, can be used independently. Shoal includes a client API and an SPI to plug-in different implementations. The project has been a collaboration with the JXTA team and the default implementation takes very good advantage of the features of JXTA to provide a highly-decentralized and highly scalable implementation. Scalability of AsyncWeb on Grizzly

Jean-Francois had previously reported on runningAsyncWeb on GlassFish (blog); he now reports on some initial performance numbers comparing against AsyncWeb running onMINA. The initial numbers look slightly better but it is non-conclusive. If you have an app using AsyncWeb, JFA would be interested in you doing some comparisons. BTW, the Grizzly framework is intended to be released out as aSeparate Project but it is not yet there; in the meantime you can download the bits fromhe...
