New Front Page at Blogs.Sun.Com - And Using the Tags Feed Streams

GlassFish v2 Duke

Blogs.Sun.Com is rolling out a new front page that includes a tag cloud and gives additional visibility to new bloggers.

The tag cloud is similar to the one we use at TheAquarium except that it covers all posts at Blogs.Sun.Com and the presentation is different; compare this to this.

Big improvement, I really like it!

Nice, but much less convenient than the old one for me. I usually go to this page, scan the new blog entries, open a few in other tabs, move to the second page of blog entries, etc. Now there are very few blog entries on each page and most of the space is used by stuff that is useless to me, which is not very practical.
However I understand that for people who want to search for some blogs it might be better now.

Hi Marc - I agree. My suggestion to the BSC team was to keep the same frontpage but move to the old style (or even a denser layout) for the next pages (page=n). That would let us more quickly go through the entries to "catch up". - eduard/o

a stunning waste of space and reduction in information density.
