Java - time to leave the nest

After over a decade of parental nurturing - Java is set to spread its wings and leave the nest. As announced at Java One in May - Sun will Open Source it's implementations of Java SE and Java ME, to join the previously released Java EE implementation.

Read Mark Reinhold's Other Blog for some thoughts on what might get released first. Danny Coward wonders what the new transparent development process will yield and Simon Phipps looks back over years at the ongoing process. Finally - get involved and help this bird to find its wings and soar.
