Grizzly 1.6 - 1.6.0 Release and GlassFish v3 Plans

Grizzly split as an independent project from GlassFish a while ago (February [1], but it feels like years ago!) and has been making fast progress since then (TA entries).

The project just released 1.6.0 with architectural improvements as well as bug fixes (like around SSL). Grizzly can be used independently and is part of the GlassFish AppServer, and this latest release, Grizzly 1.6.0, will soon be integrated into GlassFish v3.

Grizzly has regular meetings and Architectural Reviews as well as an active mailing list. You are encouraged to participate.

hi there,

shouldn't grizzly be integrated with Glassfish 2.x ?

thank you,

GF v2 is pretty much done, so Grizzly 1.6 is not going there for sure :-). We have not yet decided how many changes we can inject into GFv2 w/o disrupting the existing quality. That's why I'm describing mostly the v3 changes; we will see how much will get into the intermediate GF releases.

Also, I'm doing a writeup on the different releases, to help people understand what's getting ready.

I guess we should also point out that Grizzly has been in GlassFish since version 1.0, just not Grizzly 1.6.

We are also talking about switching 9.1 ur1 (Or 9.1.1) to run on top of 1.6 to accommodate the Sailfin project.
