Cool Green

I have to admit, when I first heard the spiel from corporate about how Sun servers are eco-friendly, I thought they were way off mark. I wondered what self-respecting CIO is going to base technology decisions on their environmental impact. Apparently I was wrong.

First off, even if I thought the marketing was lame, I never doubted the technology. The product line we have now is the best we've had in years. It's more than competetive. As far as I can tell, we blow the socks off everything else out there. One of the most impressive aspects of our current processors is the compute power to power consumption ratio.

Apparently the idea of green computing is catching on. Here's a blog from a CTO raving about how powerful and power friendly our 4100's are. Nice.

I'm very bullish on Sun right now. I mean, heck, our stock price even starting to claw its way back up out of the doldrums. I really believe that this is going to be Sun's year.

Comments:

The nice thing about reducing power consumption is that it is a good idea, whether or not you are interested environmental green or monetary green.
