Today marks the close of my 7th working day back at sun. (Not surprisingly, I didn't get a chance to rest.) Anyway, for those who don't know my history, this is my second trip through Sun. The first time around I came in as part of the Cobalt acquisition. After 3 years I eventually left to join MontaVista for 2.5 years, and now I'm back at Sun.
Everyone keep's asking me if this is the same Sun. And the answer is clearly yes. I'm amazed at how many of the great people I loved to work with last time around are still here. I could literally spend the next month doing nothing but catching up with all the great people here.
And also NO. This place has real energy, energy that was really lacking before. The analysts notice it, our customers notice, the markets seem to be noticing, and the people inside sure seem to notice it as well.
Quick story: orientation is held every monday at Sun. There were about 20 of us in the orientation last week. 3, yes 3, were NOT boomerangs. I can't think of any better vote of confidence than that.
