Run Reports from PSRM Zones Against Logical Standby Database

Using a logical standby database to run dashboard or operational reports out of PSRM zones avoids impacting performance.  Below are simple steps to configure a zone that references the standby database:

  1. Set up a database link from the main database to the logical database
  2. Create synonyms in the main database for each table in the logical database
  3. Have the SQL queries read the logical standby tables via the synonyms

An alternative is to access the logical database without using synonyms by appending "@dblinkneme" to the table name.  If the dblink name changes, the SQL queries need to be updated.  Using synonyms addresses this problem.
