Run Reports from PSRM Zones Against Logical Standby Database
By Paula Speranza-Hadley on Jul 18, 2014
Using a logical standby database to run dashboard or operational reports out of PSRM zones avoids impacting performance. Below are simple steps to configure a zone that references the standby database:
- Set up a database link from the main database to the logical database
- Create synonyms in the main database for each table in the logical database
- Have the SQL queries read the logical standby tables via the synonyms
An alternative is to access the logical database without using synonyms by appending "@dblinkneme" to the table name. If the dblink name changes, the SQL queries need to be updated. Using synonyms addresses this problem.
