Protecting the Last Wild Places in the Ocean

Evelyn Neumayr, Jennifer Ross, Senior Program Associate, and Oracle Corporate Citizenship

Oracle Giving has proudly supported National Geographic since 2009. Pristine Seas is National Geographic’s largest initiative dedicated to environmental preservation.

From the Antarctic Peninsula to the coast of Gabon, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Enric Sala and the Pristine Seas team of scientists and filmmakers set out to identify, protect, and restore some of the most remote stretches of the ocean. The team’s work has inspired the creation of 22 marine reserves, covering an area of nearly six million square kilometers. The work will continue in the years ahead as the organization doubles down on its mission to restore the health of our ocean ecosystem and ensure these spaces remain wild.
