Oracle Green Teams Find Innovative Ways to Protect the Environment

Oracle’s Green Teams are informal grassroots initiatives led by employees who want to make a positive impact in their local office by promoting sustainability-related initiatives at work, home, or in their communities. There are now more than 40 Green Teams located around the globe and they continue to improve the world around us. They organize activities, oftentimes very creative ones, in their community and then share best practices with other Green Teams.

The COVID-19 crisis did not diminish these employees’ commitment to protecting the environment. While lockdowns around the world put a halt on planned events in the offices and in the communities, our resourceful Green Teams at Oracle shifted gears and moved their engagement online. Developing awareness on the climate crisis and sharing tips and suggestions on how to lead a more sustainable lifestyle while working from home dominated their conversations.

Teams around the world maintained engagement and had fun by sharing vegan and vegetarian recipes, participating in the #growme challenge by posting luscious pictures of vegetables, plants, and flowers planted during lockdown, organizing Bingo sessions, launching Meatless Monday initiatives, and campaigning against food waste. The quarterly meeting held in August featured the amazing work of the Mexican, Costa Rican, and Swedish teams: Urban gardens, bike to work, composting, and sustainable shopping. The Oracle UK Green Team kicked off its launch event with a great session on the impact of the food supply chain and agricultural practices on climate change.

Oracle is proud of these Green Teams and the important work they do. At Oracle, we believe that sustainability is everyone’s business.
