MOS Upgraded, Mobile search improved

(Thanks to Jean-Pierre for this one)

On 5-April-2013, MOS was updated. I personally seem to notice some performance improvements, especially with Oracle Configuration Manager, but we will leave that for another post.

We released Mobile My Oracle Support, Version 6.5 which does provide an improved search experience. Here are the two improvements you might enjoy.

1. Easier Search Bar

The search bar is redesigned with visible and quick links for easy switching between Knowledge, SR, RFC or Advanced Search. Now you will have the same look and feel in every search screen.

2. Oracle On Demand Customers can now search Change Requests.

• Added RFC Advanced Search and ability to save RFC searches.
• Ability to search RFCs by a partial or full RFC Number or a Summary text.
• Search on the status, RFC type, support identifier, scheduled start, target and severity.

Comments:

Is it possible to change session timeout after login to longer, say, 8 hours? We get "The page has expired" error too frequently. Thanks.

The message is wrong, and this is being actively worked. You are likely still well within the session limit. But when you open many windows and have many items in your back "history", the application thinks you have run out of room to save this history and gives an incorrect "The page has expired" error.

Not good on our part, and we are working on a variety of fixes so that you can use the app more without seeing a message, improving our ability to swallow this message and just have the app behave correctly and lastly fix the message so if it does appear, it shows a good message.

This problem also was reported to Oracle Support by the German Oracle User Group (DOAG) in March 2012 (see http://www.doag.org/home/aktuelle-news/article/the-page-has-expired-neue-myoracle-support-benutzeroberflaeche-speichert-suchergebnisse.html).

I really wonder why it takes that much time to fix this issue.
