Mobile Access to My Oracle Support... Options

Thank you for your interest in mobile!  We appreciate your business, and very much want to provide you access to what you need and when you need it.

See What is New for 2012 in MOS Mobile

The My Oracle Support provides three options for access.

  1. Point any modern browser (on a phone or not!) to https://support.oracle.mobi
  2. Download a Native App on your platform (Hint: "Support" is on page two of the main screen in Version 2.0. ;-<)
    1. Apple iPhone Version 2.0.11 (the app is called "Oracle") - Visit the Apple Store
    2. Android -(Version 1.3.5 opens Support via link on top toolbar, swipe all the way to the left) View available app in the Android Store
    3. Blackberry and others - investigating. Learn More...
  3. Use your high-resolution tablet to https://support.oracle.mobi - the ipad is not yet supported on the main sites.

Here is the iPhone App... Once in the app you go to "Support" and then you can sign in. We are working on fixing the "double" back arrow model. (FIXED 2.0.11 is in the apple store). In addition the SR number looks like a phone number to the app. (also FIXED!)

Here is the browser solution. We recommend using the "Back" button in our application, it will work faster and easier than using the Browsers back button at the bottom of the page.

Comments:

Slightly offtopic, when are you going to permanently retire the Flash version of "My Oracle Support"? This is such a massive embarassment, if I were you I'd just nuke it from orbit and pretend it never existed. I have to wonder who at Oracle decided in 2009 to make a Flash site. Why not a Java applet while you're at it.

Posted by nixar on November 02, 2011 at 03:30 AM PDT #

It was 2007, and there was not a lot of options for rich UI's on the web. I think we covered it in detail in previous posts. Java was not even a close option back then, but again we covered that. ;-> I am going to ping you offline to see where the big issues are for you, so we can make sure any new efforts don't have those some issues. Sorry you are not happy.

This new apps is a beggining, it's useful to follow SRs.
But when will we be able to manage RFCs with OnDemand tab for OnDemand customers ?
Is this apps going to be the same as My Oracle Support HTML where we can't manage RFCs for some reason ?
Thanks to let OnDemand customer clearly know about that.
Best Regards,
Frederic

Where is the link to 'support' on the iPad version?

Posted by guest on November 06, 2011 at 09:03 PM PST #

Are there plans to show On Demand RFCs as well as SRs? Also I was not able to get the app to display as landscape on my iPhone - is this going to be fixed?

Posted by guest on November 07, 2011 at 01:37 AM PST #

Hi Richard,

I agree with nixar on this front... re-implementing the entire UI in Flash means standard browser features don't work. Off the top of my head:

* Triple-click to select a line of text
* Spell check
* Copy/Paste in many, many locations (Like trying to get the SR number from the main screen... you have to click thru to the ticket, then copy it from there. <sigh>)
* Getting a simple URL to an SR, a Note, Bug, etc.
* When I upload a file, then post an update into the ticket... it tell me that "Sorry, the SR has been modified". Yes, by the file that got virus scanned and posted. This means I need to copy, refresh (not via F5, but your special little button), then paste... just to get back to where I was.
* Scrollbar acceleration on my Mac is absurd. Slightly too fast on the trackpad and ZIP... you're at the bottom.

And what's with the automatic sign-out every hour? I don't believe that's necessary, so please at least give me the option to allow my account to auto sign-in with a persistent cookie.

Regards.
Greg.

Are there plans to make On Demand available on the app?

Will you be implementing Landscape view?

Posted by Incognito on November 07, 2011 at 09:17 PM PST #

I say thank you for that. I was so looking forward to having the option of checking my SRs right on my mobile screen.
I do suggest so improvements to the app though like rotaion screen support, zoom-in, zoom-out...
But the overall it's great. Thanks again.

Are you kidding me? You have to ask unix guys what their big issue is, with requiring flash, to access the support site? I would suggest a "know your customers" course as a first step, followed by a course in "the differences between unix and windows operating systems" (and where they are used), followed by a Solaris course (where you'll find that flash isn't a part of the OS install, and is a pain in the #$@% to get installed not to mention the security issues). Me and millions of Solaris admins around the world give two big thumbs up to nixar's comments!

Is it not available for symbian belle. Shall we expect it in near future

Posted by guest on November 08, 2011 at 07:24 PM PST #

What happens when you go to http://support.oracle.mobi?
We support Nokia S60, so I am wondering what doesn't work?
http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/browsers.html - explains what we can support and what is not supported.

We have no plans for a native app for Symbian.
We base our plans on customer usage. So the platforms with the most customers will get the most effort.

Is the Appp available for Mexico?
I didn't find it. In the App Store.

Posted by Rigoberto on November 10, 2011 at 01:28 AM PST #

The app should be available globally. Look for "Oracle" as the app name. It is only available in English.

Or try just bookmarking the URL
http://support.oracle.mobi

The functionality is the same in both the app and the website until we release our next version of the Native app. At that time it should provide some native only functionality.

I just installed Version 1.3.5 of Oracle on my Samsung.
I went through the Android Store, and that worked.

Once installed, I had to swipe on the News / OpenWorld / JavaOne bar until I got to the end.
Then I could click Support and sign in.

This is the URL I used to get to the download button
http://m.androidzoom.com/android_applications/news_and_weather/oracle-now_kzmk.html

And it took me to this page... but I can't seem to get a URL for it.

How to download Oracle mobile for support on Android?thanks.

Posted by guest on November 14, 2011 at 02:21 PM PST #

Tell me why and what is wrong with using Windows 7 mobile?
http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/browsers.html is the list of supported platforms, and we are dependent on that framework, but a modern browser with JS should work. Let me know offline what is not working and I will see what we can do.

As for Android... try going and searching directly in the android store not via AndroidZoom (and see url's posted above.

Will status updates on tickets send a notification to the app?

Posted by Bjorn Naessens on November 16, 2011 at 08:26 PM PST #

The mobile browser site cannot do status updates.
But we have in the plans to do status updates in the native client, when that infrastructure becomes available to us.

So it will look like what you see with Email ("9") and then that means you have 9 SRs which have updates (like you have threads in email.
Hopefully this is going to fit your need!

If you let us know what Android market doesn't have the "Oracle" application let us know, so we can investigate. It should be available worldwide.

When can we expect the Oracle Mobile Client for Bada OS.

Posted by Suresh on November 19, 2011 at 04:33 AM PST #

Why is this still a "Portrait Mode Only" iPhone app :-(. Too bad it's not a real app, just a website (support.oracle.mobi) shown through the app.

Posted by guest on November 21, 2011 at 07:09 PM PST #

What about an Android app as well?

It would be great in support as it would be for accesing OBIEE

Posted by Rafael García on November 23, 2011 at 08:48 PM PST #

I just installed the "Oracle Now" droid app and immediately uninstalled it. Embedding a browser which displays your mobile website does NOT count as a mobile app. I don't need your app to use your mobile site. A bookmark works just as well and it takes up considerably less screen(The native droid browser doesn't have a pointless red banner across the top of the screen) and disk space. I'll be happy to reinstall your mobile app when it has a native droid UI.

Is there an MOS mobile app available for the Symbian OS phones like NOKIA E71, E72 etc?

Posted by Bharat on December 22, 2011 at 07:01 PM PST #

John, try just the support.oracle.mobi site for now.
We are working on a darn better native solution as well.

Kari, you setup your CSI on the flash or supporthtml sites to make your account Active. Then you can use the mobile site on a daily basis.

Try support.oracle.com from your desktop, and if you don't have any CSIs in your profile it should take you directly to the Settings > Account page to add the CSI. Then the administrator in your company will have to approve it.

Bharat, no plans for Symbian native. Please try using your mobile browser to access support.oracle.mobi

I just installed the app on my iPhone, logged in and went to Support. I don't see any of my open SRs listed in All Open. Is there something special with CRM On Demand SRs that make them unavailable from view?

Any timeline when Blackberry app is available?

Glad to see some improvement from the oracle support over years. I could not check my SR uisng my iphone/ipad as flash was is not supported. The http did not work well neither. Then I gave up.
Now i can check my SR 'on the road'!

Dear All,
New My Oracle Support HTML (supporthtml.oracle.com) will be live on 27 jan.
We will see if this new version will be even more complete than mobile application.
To everyone, be aware that you don't need flash installed using site supporthtml.oracle.com ....
Cheers,
Fred

I cannot get the favourites option to work in Support. In the My Oracle Support site I have lots of favourites for notes and documents that I find useful but in the app it looks like I can only mark an SR as a favourite. And trust me I do not have any favourite SR's only ones that infuriate me. ;-)

When will the android or windows apps be available?

Another big 'Amen' to Nixar's comment. I used to love Metalink prior to 2009. Now it's just a pain..........

I would like to add my voice to the requests for a Windows Mobile app, and for the ability to manage RFCs.
Thanks

Posted by Kevin on February 23, 2012 at 01:49 AM PST #

Let me answer some of your questions.
1. The ipad version should be updated any day and should fix these issues.

2. RFC management is in progress. If you want to get an early look and provide feedback, send me an email directly at emui-feedback_us at oracle dot com.

3. If you think Metalink was "great" and now it is a "pain", try the supporthtml.oracle.com main site and see what you think.

4. There is no plans for a Windows native app, but we still are hoping to do an android app in the future.

Posted by Richard Miller on February 23, 2012 at 08:44 AM PST #

Request Oracle to flag the Android application to install on SD card. I have got a phonewith low internal memory but 32 GB of microSD card. I cannot install the Android app on SD card and I have to remove this from phone. Please make the app install on SD card.

Ipad 2 version crashes when i try to log in to support.

Posted by guest on February 26, 2012 at 03:56 PM PST #

Unfortunately the ipad and many other mobile devices and webkot based browsers dont work with supporthtml.oracle.com. The ipad doesn't even allow you to sign in. I know the dev team is actively looking at this. In the meantime you can point any mobile devices browser to support.oracle.mobi and you should at least be able to view and update service requests. I hope that helps some!
