Getting to NetBeans Software Day in San Francisco and JavaOne
By suchys on Jun 09, 2006
OK, let leave Tommy, it is time to move to San Francisco downtown. I got accommodation in W Hotel, little more fancy then I needed, but close to Moscone Center. What surprised me on that weekend, it was nice and warm weather, something really unusual for the city. I more remember freezing wind, fog and rain here.
Sunday afternoon, rehearsals for NetBeans day and in the evening dinner and talk with Sprint in nice Irish pub (help me with the name, it is on corner of Howard and 5th street) with Czech beer (Pilsner Urquell) and some Murphy's laws I like: "The light at the end of tunnel is only light on oncoming train". Hopefully no :o).
Monday, Monday. We were installing computers on our booths in the morning which worked quite well and finished soon. 10:00 is time to be at Argent hotel, NetBeans day registration is about to start.
Shock. The crowd is incredible there, line looks like for several hours, I did not believe my eyes.
|Can you believe? Just only walk by took me several minutes ... All those people are waiting for registration.|
We got about 1000 people, Jonathan Schwartz was having opening keynote there. For the following Mobility session some people disappeared for second track, did not know that we were about to give some very nice give aways - thanks to UIQ for Sony Ericsson M600, Ricoh for Video iPod, SavaJe .. The guy who got M600 looked like he did not trust me it was reality from his later email:
I was the one winning the M600 on Mondays NetbeansDay. I just checked the Sony Ericsson WebSite and the specs of the device just rocks what I didn’t realized when we spoke.

NetBeans Day was very successful in my opinion, I liked the NetBeans World tour movie they showed by the end. When it got to part from Brazil, I was so surprised there was somebody taking almost same pictures as me, until I realized they were mine :o)).
In the evening, we got to Thirsty Bear, the guy with the most green dots is me, look at Lukas's blog :o)
