Catching up from GDC

I'm still catching up from GDC, so this will be a short post, but I wanted to let folks know what's up.

First off, thanks to all of you who came out to Thirsty Bear last week for our get-together. We filled the bar area, and then closed it down; the discussions were very interesting, and it was really great to meet so many of you in person! We'll definitely try to keep doing some of these community events throughout the year.

The conference itself was terrific. We met with so many people who are active in the community or just getting started that my apologies up-front if I'm slow to get back in touch with you. Touring around the floor I saw a lot of neat stuff (yes, the Wii balance-board-thing is a lot of fun), with motion-capture being the big thing from what I saw. I was on vacation for a few days afterwards, so I'm still pulling together my notes. Look for some better comments next week.

Next week I'm also hoping to start writing on some of what I heard about darkstar: what's good, what needs improvement, and what features are highly requested. What's on your list? Let me know in the next week and I'll start to fold your comments into the mix. In the meantime, I'm pushing to get some tests updated so I can get some updates to the core committed.
