TV over IP + Blackbox

Last week I wrote about Nielsen's challenges trying to figure out TV ratings in the face of alterative distribution methods. The Mercury News has an interesting article about the new crop of television content distribution networks. It's clear that TV over IP is going to be a big coming wave.

On a not completely unrelated note, the internet is buzzing over Sun's announcement of the Blackbox portable data center. I stopped by to see it in front of Sun's Exec Briefing Center this morning on the way to my office. I won't spend a lot of time on this other than to note that this thing drastically increases the need for connected management services. When your data center can be on the back of a truck you don't want to constantly have to send out humans to diagnose a failure or install a patch.

Too Cool.
