Applications Technology Integration

We are pleased to announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.5 is now available.

Instructions for downloading and applying this release update pack (RUP) for the EBS 12.2 codeline can be found here:

What Does Release 12.2.5 Include?

As a consolidated suite-wide patchset, this RUP includes new features, statutory and regulatory updates, and enhancements for stability, performance, and security.

Release 12.2.5 is cumulative. That means that as well as providing new updates for this release, it also includes updates that were originally made available as one-off patches for earlier 12.2 releases.

For a complete list of new features, refer to:

Common Questions About Upgrading

  • Is there a direct upgrade path from Release 11i to Release 12.2.5?

No. Release 11i customers must first upgrade to Release 12.2 before applying 12.2.5.

  • Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.0 to 12.2.5?

No. Release 12.0 customers must first upgrade to Release 12.2 before applying 12.2.5.

  • Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.2 to 12.2.5?
Yes. Release 12.2 customers can apply EBS 12.2.5 directly to their environments. EBS 12.2.5 is an online patch, so it may be applied while EBS 12.2 is running.
  • How can I prepare for EBS 12.2?

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the new R12.2.5 available.

we have to apply this patch also in downtime mode using adop or is there any workaround to apply it using adop general phases.

    Thanks&regards

    Sandeep

    Hi,

Great job of introducing a single file system based development system. This greatly reduced the maintenance on development environments.

Does this release provide enhancements in other major technical areas like adop and patch management. 12.2.4 brought in greater stability for online patching, but still for DBA's it seems to be a nightmare to manage the instance especially with adsplice and online enablement and maintaining it to be online enabled.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

    Regards

    Chenthil

Great News. Thanks. When can we expect 12.3 from Oracle :). Also, with the moving trend towards cloud in Co-Ex and full cloud adoption models. what is the future of Oracle e Business Please?

    Hi Sandeep,

If you are applying 12.2.5 as part of an upgrade from a pre-12.2 release (11i, 12.0 or 12.1) then you should apply the 12.2.5 release in Downtime mode. If you are upgrading from a 12.2.x release, you take advantage of Online Patching, and apply 12.2.5 in an online patching cycle.

These 2 scenarios/paths are documented in Section 8 of the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.5 Readme (Doc ID 1983050.1)

    Regards,

    Santiago

    Hi Chenthil,

Release 12.2.5 requires the October 2015 updates to the AD and TXK Modules (AD&TXK Delta.7). These patches were released the same week as 12.2.5. We included several enhancements and fixes to Online Patching as well as other Applications DBA and technology stack components. Please review the following notes to learn more about these enhancements:

    HI

Any idea when the certification matrix in MOS will be updated? and Im assuming the same certification for 12.2.4.

    thanks,

    Simon

  • Artyom Tuesday, October 20, 2015

    Hello

If I remember correctly n and n-1 EBS patch-sets are supported. Does it mean that 12.2.4/5 is required for support baseline and all customers on 12.2.3 need to update ASAP ?

    Thank you

    Artyom

  • Steven Chan Tuesday, October 20, 2015

    Hello, Artyom,

Our support policy has changed. Instead of referencing specific patchsets, we're offering support for the EBS 12.2 codeline, with the minimum patchset level being 12.2.3 and some additional specific AD and TXK patches.

    See this externally-published article:

    Regards,

    Steven

  • Steven Chan Tuesday, October 20, 2015

    Hello, Simon,

The Certification database should be updated already with EBS 12.2.5-related certifications. If you can't find something specific, it might be worth logging a Service Request to track that down.

    Regards,

    Steven

    Hello,

Reading the EBS R12.2.5 EAM release notes, it mentions Non-measure GIS Routes, exactly what does that mean? Is it a way to have a schematic diagram of an electric grids assets that geo-coding isn't a requirement? For example a power companies "One-line diagram".

  • venkat Sunday, November 29, 2015

    Hi Steve,

I see that EBS Extensions with Endeca has been renamed as EBS Information discovery. Does Release 12.2.5 comes as with built in Endeca feature of information discovery or is it of same approach of intergrating Endeca extensions with EBS and just name is changed to EBS Information Discovery.

    Hi Steven,

We are planning to upgrade our 11.5.10.2 environment to 12.2.5 and wanted to know if our Preventive Controls Governor (PCG) rules will migrate and work without any changes.

  • Melinda Thursday, December 3, 2015

    Steven,

Regarding my question related to PCG and 11.5.10.2 to 12.2.5 upgrade, I did see the following MOS notes:

Steps To Have PCG Upgraded From 11i to R12 environment (Doc ID 1395871.1)

PCG 7.3.3: What Are The Considerations For GRC PCG When Upgrading EBS from 11.5.10.2 To R12.2.x? (Doc ID 1677002.1)

I am waiting to find out our current version of PCG, but your input will still be greatly appreciated.

  • Steven Chan Thursday, December 3, 2015

    Hello, Melinda,

Yes, PCG 7.3.3 (and, presumably, higher) is compatible with EBS 12.2. Please let us know if you have any issues with this upgrade.

    Regards,

    Steven

  • Konrad Hammerer Wednesday, January 13, 2016

    Hi,

Will there be a VM template including a Vision Demo Database Tier for 12.2.5 and if so, when will it be available?

    Thanks

    Konrad

  • Steven Chan Wednesday, January 13, 2016

    Hi, Konrad,

Yes, we hope to provide an updated VM template for EBS 12.2.5. We're working on a few other projects right now, so I don't have a specific timeline that I can share here. I'll post updates in via this blog when they're available.

    Regards,

    Steven

  • Konrad Hammerer Thursday, January 14, 2016

    Hi Steven,

Thanks for your quick answer. Would it be possible to get a rough estimation about the template availability?

    Regards,

    Konrad

  • Steven Chan Friday, January 15, 2016

    Konrad,

Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog. I'll post updates here as soon as soon as they're available.

    Regards,

    Steven

    Hello Steven,

    Subject: iReceivables re-skin search pages

We are in R12.2.5 and planning to go with iReceivables

We are planning to implement Oracle iReceivables R12.2.5 . The seeded iReceivable screens are not very user friendly and would impact customer experience. Consequently, the client customer plans to develop a custom UX.

we are planing to go with the below two options:
Option 1: to put angular UI on top of Oracle AR without using iReceivable application.
Option 2: Use angular UX but use it with iReceivable application.

We would like to understand pros and cons with both options and Oracle recommended approach and how other clients are doing it and what do you recommend.

Your advice and inputs will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Srinivasa
