Oracle VM Virtual Appliances for E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 are now available from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud:

OSDC Screen

These virtual appliances deliver the full software stack, including the Oracle Linux 6.5 operating system, Oracle E-Business Suite, and additional required technology components.  They can be imported into Oracle VM Manager to deploy E-Business Suite Linux 64-bit environments on compatible server-class machines running Oracle VM Server, or imported into Oracle VM VirtualBox to create virtual machines on a desktop PC or laptop.

Available Appliances

The available Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 virtual appliances are:

  1. Single Node Vision Demo
  2. Vision Demo Database Tier
  3. Production (PROD) Database Tier
  4. Application Tier
  5. Sparse Application Tier

These appliances can be used to support the following scenarios:

  • Single node E-Business Suite 12.2.4 installation: Choose the single node Vision Demo virtual appliance (Option 1 above) to create a unified virtual machine with the EBS 12.2.4 database and application tiers.
  • Multi-node E-Business Suite 12.2.4 installation: Create a multi-node system using the database virtual appliance of choice (either Vision or PROD) and the application tier virtual appliance. That is, Option 2 or 3 above, followed by Option 4.  You can then add secondary application tiers using Option 5.
  • Operating system-only installation (Oracle Linux 6.5): The sparse application tier virtual appliance (Option 5) includes the necessary operating system packages, kernel parameter settings, and users (oracle and applmgr) required to install Oracle E-Business Suite, providing benefit for customers who plan to use Rapid Install for their 12.2.4 installation.

    Dear tonyes,

Any plan for OracleVM E-business suite 12.2.4 coming with database 12c?

    Please share,

    Thanks

  • Terri Noyes Friday, November 14, 2014

If there is enough demand we can consider it. If we do it, the target would be DB 12.1.0.2, not 12.1.0.1. (And note that 12.1.0.2 is not yet certified for 12.2.)

Any thought as to including Endeca Extensions as part of a VM Template?

  • guest Monday, December 29, 2014

I have downloaded the single tier Vision instance. I am trying to create a virtual machine with Virtual Box and are getting issues.

Failed to import appliance : Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL.ova.

Seeking within the archive failed (VERR_TAR_CHKSUM_MISMATCH).

    Result Code: VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005)

    Component: Appliance

    Interface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}

What is the process to get help to resolve this issue ?

    Thanks

    Mark

    Mark-

We have seen this with earlier versions of Virtual Box, so please make sure to download the latest version. If the problem still occurs, please log a service request.

I am getting consistent errors on visionappsconfig.sh. visiondbconfig.sh ran fine on the single node vision install for 12.2.4 VM templates.

Does anyone know the cleanup steps so that I can start from the beginning

  • Jayanta Banerjee Tuesday, January 6, 2015

I have deleted the appliance and re-imported it. I will try to run the configs once more and see if that fixes the issue. The cleanup did not work as expected. I ran cleanup.sh and rebooted the VM. it failed to get an IP address by DHCP and I entered a static IP. but it still failed in apps config complaining about a 'return' statement from the apps env file.

If this does not work, I will try 12.2.3 and will conclude that 12.2.4 did not get deployed successfully for me. I did open a support ticket but oracle only provides support for licensed products. Since this is not licensed, the rep closed the ticket.

  • Terri Noyes Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Jayanta- That is the correct thing to do (delete the VM and re-import it). If this does not solve your problem, go ahead and send me an email and include the errors that you are receiving when you run the apps config script.

    Hi Terri

Can you please confirm the following settings and steps that I intend to follow once I start the VM

    Settings in the VM

Network : 2 adapters - adapter 1 bridged and adapter 2 host only for the VM

    CPU 2

Once the VM boots with Linux 6.5 and stops at the login prompt

I will enter root and it will ask me to change the passwords for root, oracle and applmgr.

Once I do that, then it will proceed with the database configuration.

Then it asks me if I need to configure VISION Demo or NONE to boot to the VM.

I said VISION last time. Please confirm.

Also if you can let me know the location of the log file of apps config that will be great.

    Hi Terri

The application finally was configured automatically and got started. I was able to access the application using http://ebs.example.com:8000 and logged in successfully using operations. Now I can navigate to the java pages of the application. The forms server does not get invoked and I cannot navigate to any screen that is based on the forms. Do I need to do anything extra. The database server and the application tier startup on boot. Any help is appreciated.

  • Terri Noyes Monday, January 12, 2015

    Jayanta-

You are almost there! Do you have an SR number for this issue? [Product: "Oracle Applications Technology Stack", Product Version: "12.2.4", Operating System: "Linux x86-64 - Oracle Linux 6", Database Version: "11.2.0.4", etc.]

In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.7.0_67. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete

I am getting above error even after installing J2SE. Please help me

    Hello

I have downloaded Oracle Virtual Appliance for Oracle E-Business r12.2.4 in a following step by step manner but I am running into an error. As per the readme, I have gone through the Note:1928303.1 but it does not address the issue.

That said, is there any comprehensive, step by step document that outlines installation and implementation of Oracle Virtual Appliance for r12.2.4?

    Below are steps I ran.

Step 1: Downloaded and Installed Oracle Virtual Box version 4.3.22.

Step 2: I want to install Oracle EBS r12.2.4 single node installation on My Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop with 1 TB of HDD and 8GB RAM.

Step 3: Downloaded following files for single node vision appliance.

There are two zip files for each part, so I downloaded total 16 zip files.

    V52470-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 1 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52471-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 2 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52472-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 3 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52473-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 4 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52474-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 5 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52475-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 6 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52476-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 7 of 8) Linux x86-64

    V52477-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 8 of 8) Linux x86-64

    Step 4: Unzipped these files

Step 5: After unzip, unzipped filename looked like following. So I removed the last digit in the extension so that Oracle virtual box can recognize .ova extension.

    Unzipped file name:

    Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL.ova.01

    renamed to

    01_Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL.ova

Step 6. In Oracle virtual box, attempted to import these ova files using "Import Appliance". This is when I am getting following error.

Oracle VM Virtual Appliances for Oracle E-Business Suite (Linux)

Failed to import appliance C:\RUCHIR\EBS\INSTALLATION OPTIONS\Option 1 Single Node ALL\0_Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL.ova.

Could not create the imported medium 'C:\Users\RVAISHNAV\VirtualBox VMs\Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL\Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL-disk1.vmdk'.

VMDK: Compressed image is corrupted 'C:\Users\RVAISHNAV\Oracle-E-Business-Suite-12.2.4_VISION_INSTALL-disk1.vmdk' (VERR_ZIP_CORRUPTED).

    Result Code: (0x80BB0004)

    Component: Appliance

    Interface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}

This is happening with each and every file in above list.

Please advise what am I missing? And if there is a comprehensive document somewhere that outlines details about implementation. The above mentioned metalink note is not enough.

    Darsh

  • Terri Noyes Friday, February 20, 2015

    Darsh-

You have missed a major step, which is that after you unzip those files you need to concatenate them into a single ".ova", which you will then import.

    Source:

    * Oracle VM Virtual Appliances for Oracle E-Business Suite Deployment Guide, Release 12.2.4 (Note 1928303.1)

    * See Appendix A: Reconstructing and Staging the Downloaded Appliances

For Windows, you will follow Method 2: Manual Method.

    Hi,

I was able to installed and started the application and logged in successfully using operations and browsing the html-based pages of the application. The forms server does not get invoked and I cannot navigate to any screen that is based on the forms. I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit and IE 11 as a host. I used FireFox as well as Chrome but having same problem.

    Please help and advise.

    Hello, Guest,

I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered an issue with this.

We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but I'm afraid that this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you're working through.

Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our specialists engaged.

    Regards,

    Steven

    Hello,

I am facing a strange issue after installing ebs r12.2.4 VM Single Node Vision install on my Windows 7 EE machine. I imported the VM template successfully into VirtualBox(downloaded using virtualbox.org) and I am also able to start the VM machine.

This is where issue is: It simply lands into OS Login and Password. I do not know root password at this point on very first login attempt.

Contrary to online documentation, It should ask me to reset Root,Oracle and ApplMgr passwords but it is not doing that. Instead, I only get login $ prompt asking me to enter Username.

I have followed, support note Oracle VM Virtual Appliances for Oracle E-Business Suite Deployment Guide, Release 12.2.4 (Doc ID 1928303.1) very closely but no luck.

    What have I missed?

    Please advise.

    Orawolf,
This is indeed unexpected behavior. On first boot it should have asked you to change the passwords.

In any case, I'd encourage you to use the 12.2.6 appliance instead:
