Accessing Oracle E-Business Suite from Mobile Apps

Oracle E-Business Suite users need to have access to the Oracle E-Business Suite server URL. This URL represents the web entry point of your environment. By default, the web entry point is set to the hostname of the application server where Oracle E-Business Suite is installed. If a load-balancer is used, the web entry point becomes the load-balancer's hostname.

If the web entry point URL is not reachable, then users won't be able to connect. This applies to both desktop and mobile Users.

If your mobile users want to use Oracle E-Business Suite mobile apps from outside of your organization's firewall, your Oracle E-Business Suite environment must be set up in a DMZ configuration. Alternately, users may access the Oracle E-Business Suite mobile apps through an intranet connection such as a virtual private network (VPN).

DMZ access for mobile apps requires a mobile app client version of 1.1.0 or higher, with Oracle E-Business Suite Mobile Foundation Release 2.1 or later on the Oracle E-Business Suite server.

    Max,

    Have you seen Mobile Apps able to connect over HTTPS? We have not been to get the HTTPS connection to work, keep getting the message "Please enter a valid server URL". Mobile Apps connection works fine on Intranet, using HTTP.

    We have a working EBS 12.1 DMZ configuration per 380490.1. We are using an SSL offloader (A10 Networks), no certificate errors when connecting with a browser. Have installed SSL certificates on EBS external tier JDK trusted key store and in a database wallet per MOS 1425103.1, did not help. External tier Apache log never shows a connection attempt when using HTTPS, does if we test with HTTP. Service Request with Oracle Support not progressing.

    Any thoughts on how to move forward with this issue would be appreciated.

    I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered an issue with this.

    We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but I'm afraid that this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you're working through.

    Steven,

    I wanted to post an update to the issue I originally reported with regard to HTTPS connectivity. We determined the issue was related to not having all intermediate SSL certificates installed on our networking device that we use for SSL termination. PC-based browsers (Chrome, IE, Firefox) did not report any errors with the certificates, but Android based browser (Chrome) did report errors with our external EBS URL. After using tools found on SSLShopper we determined that we had missing certificates. Once the root and intermediate certificates were installed the issue was resolved.
