Elke Phelps
Product Management Director

[Nov 15, 2011 Update: Added TDE Tablespace and Column Encryption to the list of certified options]

The 11gR2 11.2.0.2 Database was certified with E-Business Suite (EBS) 11i and EBS 12 almost one year ago today.  I’m pleased to announce that 11.2.0.3, the second patchset for the 11gR2 Database is now certified. Be sure to review the interoperability notes for R11i and R12 for the most up-to-date requirements for deployment.

This certification announcement is important as you plan upgrades to the technology stack for your environment. For additional upgrade direction, please refer to the recently published EBS upgrade recommendations article. Database support implications may also be reviewed in the database patching and support article.

    Hi Elke,

Thanks for sharing the great news. I'm trying to find out if TDE Tablespace Encryption in 11.2.0.2 is supported for EBS 11i and saw the link is grayed out

    Database Feature and Option Certifications

The following 11gR2 11.2.0.2 database options and features are supported for use:

    Advanced Compression

    Active Data Guard

Advanced Security Option (ASO) / Advanced Networking Option (ANO)

and I read the notes of TDE Column Encryption and encrypting Network Traffic using ASO and ANO with EBS 11i.

Thanks in advance for your confirmation or a pointer/note.

    Best Regards,

    Jennifer.

    Jennifer,

This is an exciting announcement. Thanks for the question.

TDE Tablespace Encryption is supported for 11.2.0.2. Please see the following link:

    http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/tde_tablespace_encryption_11_2

I've also updated this article to reflect that TDE Tablespace Encryption is supported for 11.2.0.3.

I also confirmed that each link in this article is functioning properly for me. If you could, please try to access the link again (NOTE: Some links in this article require access to My Oracle Support).

    Thanks.

    Hello

We are using Oracle Demand Planning (ODP) product with e-business suite 11i (it is using database olap option). I don't see olap option certified for 11gr2, also OPD is listed as unsupported product for e-business suite 11i.

Is that going to be certified? What is the risk if we upgrade to 11.2.0.3?

We are going to uptake rel.12 next year only and 11.2.0.3 is our primary goal for now.

    Please, advise.

    Regards,

    Artyom

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Wednesday, November 16, 2011

    Artyom,

OLAP is a database option that has been a requirement for the database since 10.2.0.3; therefore, it is automatically included in the certification process and not listed as part of the certified database options.

In terms of Oracle Demand Planning, I'm not familiar product level certifications. This site is for announcements regarding technology certifications and integration provided by the Oracle Applications Technology Group. You may wish to contact your Oracle account manager regarding Oracle Demand Planning product certification. You may also ask your Oracle account manager to arrange a meeting with an Oracle specialist who can advise you as to the risk of this deployment.

    Good luck with your upgrade.

    Regards,

We are currently in the procees of performing an EBS upgrade to R12.1.3 and database upgrade to 11.2.0.2 for a client. Our go-live date is May 2012 and we are half-way through our upgrade testing. What is the end date for support of 11.2.0.2 and are we at risk continuing with our current upgrade plans? Should we consider starting over with 11.2.0.3?

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Wednesday, November 16, 2011

    Art,

Patching for 11.2.0.2 ends on September 23, 2012. The best recommendation is to stay as current as possible. The N-1 patchset should be the minimum target. Oracle Database support polices can be reviewed in the following article:

    http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/on_database_patching_support_a_primer_for_ebs_users

Unfortunately, I don't have enough information about your environment to be able to assess the risk or what introducing an new database patchset at this point in your project would do to your overall R12.1.3 upgrade time line. You may wish to ask your Oracle account manager to arrange a meeting with an Oracle specialist who can advise you on this.

Good luck with your upgrade project.

    Regards,

    ~ep

  • Barbara Matthews Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Hi. I'm looking on My Oracle Support and am not finding 11.2.0.3 listed when I look up certifications. I am choosing E-Business Suite, Release 12.1.3, and Linux x86-64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Am I choosing something wrong, or have the certifications in MOS not been updated yet? Currently they still show up to 11.2.0.2.

    Thanks, Barb

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Monday, November 28, 2011

    Barb,

Thank you for alerting us to this issue. The certification information has been updated on My Oracle Support (MOS). Please try your certification search on MOS again.

    Thank you.

    Hi Steven,

We are in the middle of upgrading our EBS database to 11.2.0.2 and found that 11.2.0.3 is available and certified with 11.5.10.2. But 11.2.0.3 is not certified on AIX 5L based systems.

Please let me know when this is certified on AIX? so that I can plan for 11.2.0.3 directly.

    My env is AIX 5L 64-bit, EBS-11.5.10.2/10.2.0.4

    Thanks in advance,

    -Mukarram.

  • robin Monday, February 13, 2012

    Hi Elke & Steven ,

as this shows as certified for Linux x86-64 and 11.2.0.3 is now certified for Exadata does this also mean that we can use 11.2.0.3 on Exadata for our EBS R12.1.3 database ? Are there any additional patches etc that we would need for this configuration ?

    Thanks

    Robin Chatterjee

  • guest Monday, February 13, 2012

    Robin,

    Thanks for your inquiry.

11.2.0.3 is certified with Exadata and Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.

You should review the following notes regarding additional requirements for Exadata:

    1) Database Machine and Exadata Storage Server 11g Release 2 (11.2) Supported Versions Note 888828.1

    2) Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i & R12 Patches Required with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) on Exadata, Note 1392527.1

    3) Interoperability Notes with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0), Note 1058763.1

Best of luck with your deployment.

  • Richard Outen Friday, July 6, 2012

    Hi Steven,

Please can you point me in the direction of where I can find details of future Database releases including timelines?

We are currently running R12.1.3 on 11.1.0.7 and have been looking into an upgrade to 11gR2. I am concerend as premier support for 11gR2 is already due to end in Janurary 2015 so another upgrade is likely to be needed within a short timeframe.

I have read the following note but can't find any information about future releases after 11.2.0.4?

Release Schedule of Current Database Releases [ID 742060.1]

    Thanks

    Richard

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Friday, July 6, 2012

    Richard,

Thanks for your inquiry. Future releases are planned; however, due to Oracle's revenue recognition policy, Oracle is not able to publish the schedule.

Please refer to the "Future Oracle Database releases note" in MOS Note 742060.1.

    Regards,

    Elke

  • Aamir Monday, July 16, 2012

    Hi

Thanks for this wealth of information. i was looking for if Oracle database 11.2.0.3 on solaris 11 (sparc 64) is certified with Oracle EBS R12.1.3 Solaris 11(sparc 64). The above detail is only showing solaris 10.

    regards

  • John Abraham Monday, July 16, 2012

    hi Aamir -

Since this announcement was made right before the certification of EBS with Solaris 11, it would not have this information.

The relevant blog article is :

    https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/oracle_e_business_suite_release1

The source of truth for certifications is My Oracle Support - in the Certifications tab, search for E-Business Suite for product and 12.1.3 for version, you'll see a list of folders which include 'Databases' and 'Operating Systems'. Under Operating Systems, you'll see Solaris SPARC with version 11 which signifies that this OS is a fully certified OS for the application tier.

Under the folder 'Databases', you'll see a list of database products/features and versions that EBS is certified with - clicking on say 11.2.0.3 of the product 'Oracle Database' should then show a list of platforms that this is certified with for EBS. Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit) version 11 is in that list.

    thanks,

    John

  • Ron Saturday, January 19, 2013

I'm not sure where to post this question but "What makes a Linux RedHat5 web server FIPS 140-2 compliant"? We current are running EBus 12.1.3 with OHS but recently found out we are NOT 140-2 compliant (TLS). Support says we need to run a proxy server in front of the web server that supports TLS. What software makes it 140-2? Also, how does one configure the Apps web tier to use a proxy server?

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Wednesday, January 23, 2013

    Ron,

Thanks for the inquiry. We don't have sufficient experties with regulatory requirements to provide concrete guidance for what is required to acheive FIPS 140-2 compliance. If you like, I can connect you with a member of our Protected Enterprise Consulting group which specializes in these types of configurations. Please email me directly if you'd like to discuss this with a specialist.

Proxy server configuration for E-Business Suite Release 12 is available in Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Configuration in a DMZ (MOS Note 380490.1).

    Regards,

    Elke

    Hi,

Can you please confirm Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 is certified with Linux AS release 5 OS version.

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Tuesday, October 1, 2013

    Guest,

Please see the following article with our announcement regarding Oracle E-Business Suite certification with Oracle Database 11.2.0.4:

    https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/11_2_0_4_database

For the latest information on certified platforms, you should always go to the certification matrix My Oracle Support. To access the certification matrix, go to My Oracle Support and click the certification tab. From here you can select your E-Business Suite version and platform. Then in the "Check certifications with another product", you can select "Oracle Database" with the version and platform.

    Thanks.
