Sun JRE 1.6.0_26 Certified with Oracle E-Business Suite

Java compatible logoYou might get a sense of deja vu when reading this article, but I'll keep repeating myself until it seems safe to stop.  To recap: the mismanaged session cookie issue (now fixed) may have made you a little nervous about automatically applying new JRE updates.  To reassure you on that front:

  • Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0_26 (a.k.a. JRE 6u26-b03) is certified with E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.
  • JRE 1.6.0_26 contains the fixes for the mismanaged session cookie issue that were originally released as part of JRE 1.6.0_23, JRE 1.6.0_24, and JRE 1.6.0_25.
All JRE releases are certified with EBS upon release

Our standard policy is that all E-Business Suite customers can apply all JRE updates to end-user desktops from JRE 1.6.0_03 and higher.  We test all new JRE releases in parallel with the JRE development process, so all JRE releases are considered certified with the E-Business Suite on the same day that they're released by our Java team.

In other words, you do not need to wait for a certification announcement before applying new JRE releases to your EBS users' desktops.  If you wish, your desktop administrators can enable the Java "Automatic updates" option on your end-users' desktops.

What's new in Java 1.6.0_26?

See the 1.6.0_26 Update Release Notes for details about what has changed in this release.  This release is available for download from the usual Sun channels and through the 'Java Automatic Update' mechanism.

This JRE release has been certified with both Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.  We recommend this release for all E-Business Suite users.

Hi, Abdul,

I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered an issue with this.

We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but I'm afraid that this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you're working through.

Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our specialists engaged.

Please feel free to forward your Service Request number to me if it gets stuck in the support process for some reason.

Regards,
Steven

When will the certification for Ebusiness suite be updated on metalink. Currenlty it only shows 1.6.0_25

Posted by guest on June 28, 2011 at 01:19 AM PDT #

Hello, Guest,

Thanks for letting me know about that omission. I'll ensure that the Certification database is updated. In the meantime, you can be reassured that that release is certified with the E-Business Suite for production environments.

Steven

Steven,

Could you please clarify something for me... My understanding was that the mismanaged session cookie issue started in ver 18 and was finally resolved in ver 23. Reading the post for ver 26 it states "JRE 1.6.0_26 contains the fixes for the mismanaged session cookie issue that were originally released as part of JRE 1.6.0_23, JRE 1.6.0_24, and JRE 1.6.0_25."

That leads me to concludes that a mismanaged session cookie issues started in 18 and actually continued in some form or other thru ver 25. Since it has been a month since the original post, can we be confident the the issues are now resolved?

Thanks for any clarifications.

Hi, JH,

The mismanaged session cookie issue was fixed in JRE 1.6.0_23, 1.6.0_24, 1.6.0_25, and 1.6.0_26. In other words, the issue existing between _18 and _22.

The issue doesn't exist with _23 and higher.

Steven

I installed Apple Java for OS X Lion and now the Java Applet Plug-in 14.0.3 is out of date. How do I fix this?

Posted by Ryan Morgan on July 20, 2011 at 07:00 AM PDT #

Hello, Ryan,

Congratulations on getting onto Lion already. I installed it last night, too.

We haven't certified the E-Business Suite with Mac OS X Lion clients yet, for the obvious reason that it was just released yesterday. For the time being, our official recommendation is that Mac-based end-users who need access to the E-Business Suite should stay on Snow Leopard.

We'll publish instructions for Lion users as soon as we complete that certification. Stay tuned.

Steven

why the new java 1.6.0_26 dosn't supor with jdownloader,
and jdownloader doest'n function

Posted by neo on July 30, 2011 at 05:42 AM PDT #

Neo,

We don't have any experience with JDownloader. It's not required for EBS implementations.

If you're experiencing issues with that third-party tool, you might have better luck contacting them directly.

Jeremy,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with that.

This blog is dedicated to Oracle E-Business Suite-related topics. It sounds like the issue that you're experiencing some kind of generic issue. If you're having trouble with that, I'd recommend contacting someone in Sun Support for the generic JRE.

Steven

Hi, Guest,

Thanks for the feedback on our blog. Glad to hear that you've found it useful.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue with the _26 update. At this point, we've certified the E-Business Suite with _29; see:

Sun JRE 1.6.0_29 Certified with Oracle E-Business Suite
http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/sun_jre_1_6_03

If this issue can't be reproduced on that latest JRE update, I'd recommend upgrading your desktops to that level.

Steven

Hi I get the below error while trying to install using maven :class file has wrong version 50.0, should be 49.0
My mvn -version is
Apache Maven 2.1.0 (r755702; 2009-03-18 12:10:27-0700)
Java version: 1.5.0_21
Java home: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_21\jre

My Java version is
java version "1.6.0_26"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03)

Is it because of the jre version mismatch?

Posted by guest on February 02, 2012 at 09:59 AM PST #

Hi, Guest,

We don't have any experience with using Apache Maven with the E-Business Suite. I'm afraid that we don't have any insight into the root cause of that error.

You might wish to engage someone in the Apache Maven team to investigate this error.

Steven
