Reminder: Database Premier Support ends August 2012

It's deja vu all over again.  Since I covered the Error Correction Support (ECS) dates for the 11gR2 Database a few days ago, it's also worth reminding you of an important support milestone for the 11gR2 Database codeline.

Premier Support for Oracle Database 11gR1 (11.1) ends on August 31, 2012.  Extended Support for 11.1 continues to the end of August 2015. These support timelines are covered in the Lifetime Support Policy for Oracle Technology Products.

The patchset is the terminal patchset for the 11gR1 database codeline.  If you're still on the patchset, you should note that Error Correction Support for that ended on September 18, 2009, as detailed here:

If you're not already on, we recommend that all Apps customers make plans for a database upgrade soon.

No support exceptions for EBS users

Remember that all Oracle Database support timelines apply to E-Business Suite environments.  There are no special support exemptions for EBS environments.  For an in-depth discussion about how database support timelines affect EBS customers, see:

Wow, it's still supported? Really? Nice of oracle to delete all downloads of 11.1 already, with no warning, so there's no way to actually install

Stay Classy Oracle.

Hi, Guest,

This blog is maintained by the E-Business Suite division. We don't have any influence over the Database division's download policies. I've passed your comment along, but if you need 11.1 Database executables, I'd recommend logging a Service Request against the Database product for assistance.

I represent the Database Support organization. Let me explain.

This was an unfortunate mistake that should be remedied soon. In the process of transition to Extended Support the Electronic Product Delivery team pulled the release from OTN and Electronic Product Delivery with the intent that it remained available to supported customers via download from My Oracle Support. Unfortunately the links to download Database releases that are on My Oracle Support actually point to the download library on OTN and thus the availability for supported customers is now broken. Until we fix this any supported customer can log a non-technical service request to get a copy of the base release ( They can order a media pack, and I believe also set up an FTP. is a patch set so is still available for download from My Oracle Support.

I will post here to let everyone know how we are going to make the downloads available again.

Database releases prior to the current release (11.2) can be obtained by making a request from My Oracle Support. See How to Request Physical Shipment or FTP download of Software Media [ID 1071023.1] on My Oracle Support.

When requesting install media for any release prior to 11.2, remember you will need to request the base release (e.g. or via this process. Once you install that you can download the patch set you want from My Oracle Support. Beginning with you no longer need the base release, you can just install the current patch set release directly. is the current patch release.
