Release 12 Upgrade Forum Now Open

A group of users at the recent OAUG Collaborate conference in Las Vegas pooled business cards after a Release 12-related session.  Their goal:  "to share their thoughts, upgrade feedback, and driving forces for moving to R12."

We'd like to help that group -- and you, of course -- collaborate and share experiences on this upgrade.  You're not alone.  As of early April, over 225 customers were actively working with Release 12, and almost a thousand downloads had been logged (at 41 GB, not a task for the only-mildly-curious).  Those numbers have certainly increased since then.

We've created a new discussion forum on the Oracle Technology Network:
I'm not an upgrade specialist, but I've (rather nervously) volunteered to monitor that forum and jump in where I can.  I suspect I'll be acting like a human router between forum participants and Oracle development.  This is in addition to my regular responsibilities (like this blog), so I'm bracing myself...

Comments:

Alan,I'm with you:  I find the "strategic vision type" of material to be less-than-useful in my own decision-making, too.  But that's just my own view, of course.Unfortunately, my visibility is largely restricted to E-Business Suite technology-stack related areas.  I'm not well-versed in the changes to the functional modules themselves in Release 12.If you're looking for a focussed list of changes to specific functional modules, I'd recommend asking your Oracle account team for a run-through and demonstration of the new features in Release 12.  They likely would be able to give you access to a real hands-on Release 12 environment for a test-drive, too.Good luck with that.Regards,Steven

I understand there are some 1500 changes made in release 12 versus 11i EBS

Is there a list which can identify the changes against each module. for example GL = xx changes which are? and the new features which are? xx

I am attempting to guage the the overall changes in release 12 that affect my business and the release documents and blogs/applcast etc are not helping me.

Our modules are:

Payables
Receivables
General Ledger
I-Procurement
HRMS (HE & Payroll)
Learning Management
Self Service
Cash management
Fixed Assets

Please can someone give more headline specifics than strategic vision type gobble de gook

Help please!
