Dear Steven,

With the release of functionality (rich containers in OAF) in R12.1.2, I've been trying to find out more (without success) on Oracle's direction.

It's clear Oracle ERP will embed Oracle BIEE directly into R12 in future versions, given the high impact visually and functionally this will have on Oracle ERP. (not to mention significant savings on development time given how easy Oracle BIEE is compare to Java).

Does this mean in the future, that customers will be required to buy Oracle BIEE, if they wish to extend, customize and modify the BIEE content within the R12?

Hi, Iain,

I already replied to this offline, but in case other readers have the same question:

Our plans are to offer the ability to embed OBIEE content into E-Business Suite pages. This will be strictly optional, and is intended to be offered to systems integrators and consultants as a capability for extending and customizing the E-Business Suite.

We have no plans to require E-Business Suite customers to purchase OBIEE simply to run the E-Business Suite. Users who are happy with the E-Business Suite's standard screens or pages can continue to do so without needing to purchase anything else.

Hi Steven,
I am Suresh, i work for facebook. I am not able to find documentation on how to ember OBIEE content in OAF using rich content container. Could you pass me some samples/examples or a POC etc ?

Hi Suresh,

We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for particular issues.

I'd suggest you start with the OA Framework documentation, followed by MOS Note 974422.1. If you don't find what you need by querying on My Oracle Support, your best bet is to log a formal Service Request with Oracle Support.

Please feel free to forward your SR number to me if it gets stuck in the support process for some reason.
