E-Business Suite Release 12 is Generally Available

The waiting is over, and that sound you hear is cheering from Oracle Apps Development teams around the world.

R12 Launch Event:

I am very pleased to announce that Oracle Applications E-Business Suite Release 12 -- the Global Business Release -- is now available for new and upgrading customers on all supported languages.  It's available from the Oracle Store and for download from  Oracle Electronic Product Delivery.

Enhanced Documentation in Release 12

Significant strides have been made to improve the amount of Release 12 information via MetaLink. The About Documents that accompanied releases in the past have been replaced with a single comprehensive roadmap document:
The Documentation Roadmap provides a landing pad to help you navigate through the wealth of material available, and highlights individual documentation roadmaps at the product and product family level too.

What's New in Release 12?

There are over 1,500 new features in Release 12, with significant new functionality in the Financials area.  Release 12 includes the latest in Oracle technology, including the 10gR2 Database and Oracle Application Server 10g.

Tune Into Our Launch Event

Don't forget that our launch event is still lined up for January" 31st.  If you can't join us in New York, you can still reserve a virtual seat for the online event now.

Now, you'll have to excuse me.  I need to brush the confetti out of my hair...

Excellent news. Like the way you guys sneak it in there before the Launch event. :-)
Time to get hold of a copy and start worrying how I am going to implement it.

Your link to note 394692.1 is not working

Thanks, Richard.  I've refreshed the link, but noticed that the link fails if you haven't already logged into Metalink.  To resolve that, log into Metalink in your browser, then click the link again.Regards,Steven

It seems that the JDeveloper w/OA Extension ARU for OA Framework Development is not available.
Can you please confirm if that is the case and if so when will it be available ?

Maybe a worng place to post this but we had one interesting thread going on at one of the forums at OTN (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=468425&tstart=0) on which an Oracle insider like you might shed some light.
Maybe you could step in for a lil of enlightnement

Note: Before extending your OA Framework-based Oracle Application pages, please read Oracle Application Framework Support Guidelines for Customers (Metalink Note 395441.1). Also note that you must have access to Oracle 10g JDeveloper with OA Extension , and not just Oracle 10g JDeveloper.

But I cant seem to find a particular patch number for this download. It is not included as an extension on JDeveloper downloads either. On the OTN Forums, all I could understand is that patch has not been released. So I wanted to confirm if that is the case and if so when will it be released.
Any help is appreciated . Thanks.

Kind of a left field question, but we need a definitive list of new applications delivered with Release 12 over 11i - we've read from the literature 18, but we're only finding 12 - know you're terribly busy, but thought you might be able to point us to the definitive?

Hmm... my focus is on the E-Business Suite's technology stack.  I have much less visibility into the functional side of things, unfortunately.  Your best bet might be to ask your Oracle account manager to put together a detailed list for you.  He or she can try to chase this down from some of our internal functionally-oriented resources.
Good luck with this one.

As of March 2nd, 2008, edelivery now offers the Release 12.0.4 Media Pack as a direct download -- installing R12.0.0 and patching up to 12.0.4 seems no longer necessary. Would you have any insight into which CPU patches are included/excluded from the R12.0.4 installation?

Hi, Steven,The ability to install 12.0.4 directly rather than patching up is a really great step forward for this release.  I'm way behind in my announcements but will be posting this one soon.As for the latest Critical Patch Update included in 12.0.4:  it's January 2008.  I did a quick series of searches for this information, but was a little surprised to have no luck in finding this officially documented in the places that I'd originally expect.  I've raised this with our Security team -- they're working on tracking this down now.  This kind of information shouldn't be so difficult to find!Regards,Steven
