In under five short months OpenSolaris 2008.05 has been installed on over 100,000 systems. The new OpenSolaris operating system distribution is a free, open source and innovative OS that signals a new era of opportunities for Sun partners and developers.
What's All The Buzz About?
Not only is the OpenSolaris OS easy to obtain, but it's also easy to install because it runs on over 1000 systems. It is full of unique features such as the new Image Packaging System (IPS), ZFS as the default filesystem, DTrace enabled packages for extreme observability and performance tuning, integrated CIFS (cross-platform file sharing), and many more.
