Social Media Week London - Feb 1-5th 2010

Hello, Social Media Week London Is Go

London Night Bus by doug88888Yes, hello, this is London calling. Excuse the Eurovision-style pun…in a foretaste of our preparations for the 2012 Olympics, things have started out slowly but are rapidly swinging into gear.

It’s going to be an exciting, busy, thought-provoking week’s worth of events, taking place 1st-5th Feb 2010, which will bring together the leading thinkers, organisers, movers and shakers across the social media spectrum for events including from panel sessions to networking events, breakfast briefings and more.

Building on the success of the first Social Media Week, which took place in New York last year, this time around there’s six cities across three continents taking part. There’s plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether organising an event, helping out on the day, spreading the word, providing a venue, sponsoring Social Media Week, but above all, we hope you’ll come along to the events themselves.

Chinwag, the lead organiser for Social Media Week London, is working with a group of fab advisors and Toby Daniels and the global team in New York. We’re pulling together what we hope will be a engaging and varied week of exploration into social media’s impact across business, media, the arts, politics, society and no doubt, other things we haven’t thought of yet.

We’ll be posting more news on this blog as well as through through Twitter and Facebook. Keep your eyes peeled and if you’d like to get involved, do get in touch.

Gary Vaynerchuk, Author Crush it!

About Gary

Gary Vaynerchuk has captured attention with his pioneering, multi-faceted approach to personal branding and business. After primarily utilizing traditional advertising techniques to build his family’s local wine business into a national industry leader, Gary rapidly leveraged social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook to promote Wine Library TV, his video blog about wine. As his viewership swelled to over 80,000 a day, doors opened to a book deal, several national TV appearances, and a flurry of speaking engagements around the world. Gary’s dual identity as both business guru and wine guy has made him the “Social Media Sommelier.”

In addition to the Web 2.0 keynote, Gary’s remarks on personal branding, social media, and business atFOWA, Strategic Profits, and South By Southwest occasioned praise from established web denizens including Kathy Sierra and earned the admiration of countless bloggers and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Sun Startup Essentials Masterclass - 12 November

[insert header]
STARTUP ESSENTIALS sun.com/startups - Marketing - SSE Startup Masterclass
Thursday 15th October Time 6pm til 20:30

Brand strategy is one of the most fraught areas of marketing, though also one of the most important. As a Startup it's often the element that gets left behind and not really identified. But how can you tell an investor what business you are in, if you don't really know yourself? It's a vital step in creating the company identity.

The key point is you can’t have a strategy without a clear objective. Restating a goal is not strategy, execution is not strategy, and tactics are not strategy. This masterclass will demonstrate why a strategic approach to brand management can play a crucial role in defining a strong, winning identity for your company.

What does this mean ?

When you're talking to investors, you'll be able to clearly articulate who your market is, describe how talking and listening to your customers will better equip you to target your audience and take your message out, in these tough economic times.
Register Now
Why should I attend this masterclass?
Because you will learn to define:
what business are we REALLY in?
in that context, what's our positioning?
who are our key stakeholders? Which are most important at this stage?
can we crisply define and communicate the compelling value we offer?
what are our core and secondary value propositions?
having established all the above, are we able - in plain language and briefly - to communicate our differentiated and powerful branding to clients, partners, media and investors?
